As if this game needed any more fuel…

KG’s special sneaks for today’s Celtics-Lakers game (via Counter Kicks)

On Friday night, Kevin Garnett dropped Channing Frye with a tap that every man fears. After the subsequent reaction (including Frye dropping like he was hit with a one-two combo from Manny Pacquiao then rising like he was the Ultimate Warrior) and ejections, many wondered if Garnett would be suspended for today’s marquee matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Wonder no more. We know The Big Ticket will be in action today at 3:30 p.m. on ABC, with a scowl and custom-made “Beat L.A.” shoes.

Never mind that the game is in L.A. Or that Boston’s star opponent is known for taking slights like this personal. Or that this is their first time in the Staples Center since Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals. Or that said star opponent tried the green shoe thing Christmas Day with inauspicious results.

Forget all that. It just seems to me that it’s beneath KG to blatantly taunt an opponent.

Nothing short of a hospitalized family member or compadre will keep me away from this square-off.
