In case you missed it, TNT’s ‘NBA Forever’ intro was pretty wicked

by Micah Hart

Basketball is back! If five games today don’t get you in the mood, surely the intro to today’s TNT tipoff game between the Knicks and Celtics will do the trick:

Which of the scenes in the video gave you the most goosebumps? For my money, it was Steve Nash tapping Pete Maravich on the shoulder. Now that would have been a fun pairing.

  1. H says:

Well, Kobe-Magic, that would have been just unfair.

  2. Orin says:

Whoever, did the editing could have done a better job with the still matte work. No offense to the NBA, but you’re debuting this on Christmas. Should have put a more seamless look to it. Overall, a good video.

  3. RafaMoreira says:

Well, probably Rose-Jordan at the end…

  4. A says:

Magic to Kobe, Bird to Allen and Rose-Pippen-Jordan-Cartwright. But Bird vs Dirk would have been quite an interesting match

  5. Ray Ray for 3 says:

This was one of the greatest promos that I’ve ever seen. Whoever put this clip together did an amazing job! It got me excited for the NBA and I can’t wait to see how this season plays out. The NBA = Where Legends Are Born!

  6. King James says:

    Welcome back NBA!

  7. Sam says:

Rose lining up next to Jordan and Pippen. Unstoppable!!!

  8. EmirS. says:

    The Jordan/Rose fist bump.

  9. Hutch24 says:

As a New Yorker and a Knick fan, seeing Ewing bump chests with Amare and Carmelo posting up against Barkley was pretty awesome, but the entire segment put together some pretty sick fantasies!!! Cudos TNT

  10. Jon in Iowa says:

Man, Timmy matched up against Bill Walton. That would be like watching a dance off between Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire.

  11. Sonny says:

this concept probably took its roots from the introductory movie in NBA 2k12

  12. Nasthy says:

watching Nash pat Pistol Pete was wicked and seeing the Kobe-Magic high-five/hug and Jordon-Rose fistbump was crazy. The NBA IS BACK

also kudos to Dallas fans booing the defensive player of the year: David Stern

  13. Sonson says:

This is beyond AMAZING! Kudos to TNT for making this video. WOW! HANDS DOWN!

    Dirk versus Larry Legend. INTERESTING.
    Rose/Pippen/Jordan. UNSTOPPABLE.
    Bryant and Magic. SHOWTIME.

  14. Rob says:

That would’ve been one hell of an NBA season!! I got chills from several of those – Pierce checking Logoman, Wilt and Dwight… how fun would Dr J vs LBJ have been? And you guys are right, several of those pairs – Kobe/Magic, Jordan-Pippen-Rose – would’ve been unfair haha!!

How long did this take to put together though? Wow.

  15. Jayd says:

Magic to Kobe and seeing Jordan props Rose, amazing!!!

  16. marion31 says:

the last part, Rose and MJ tapping their hands… AWESOME!! that could’ve been the best backcourt ever!!

  17. Jaykwan says:

Rose-Jordan at the end was pretty awesome.

  18. matt says:

bird to allen for 3, magic to kobe, jordan rose fist bump.. i pretty much liked all of them

  19. 6nba5 says:

this was the single best intro i have ever seen, the song was fitting, the intro was fiiting for the debut of the game on christmas day, i always caught chill bumps watching the finals intro, but this one was even greater. the past superstars uniting with the current few superstars and i do mean few, but being a bulls fan, i loved that line up with rose pippen, and jordan, replace cartwright with rodman would of been great. but kodos to tnt and the nba for bringing back the sport we love.

and to orin, go kick rocks with no socks, go bounce a flat basketball for fun, u will never edit 80’s or 90’s picture motion with todays screening everything is much vivid and sharper looking

  20. Ian says:

The Durant and Gervin clips were great!

  21. Kyle Brunton says:

Barkley to griffin would be an awsome duo in the front court, same with ewing and stoudemire ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. David Claytor says:

Huge Bulls fan here…but the scariest duo in the entire montage has to be Kobe and Magic.

  23. luy says:

IsiahThomas??????????????? Reggie Miller???? Robert Horry? Manu Ginobilli? Peny? Grant Hill? Vince Carter? Tracy Mac? Payton? Dominique? Drexler? Amazing Video……

  24. luy says:

Drose is too far away from Isiah Thomas. Thomas is the best PG ever….Michael could have reached 8 titles.:).

  25. BlackMamba24 says:

Watching Wilt pat Dwight on the butt after blocking his shot was pretty awesome. Also loved the D.Rose and M.J combo, and as a Laker fan, obviously the Magic to Kobe.

  26. validn10t says:

at the point if u want a show u gotta go with zeke vs cp3 and I cant tell who zeke shook up in the last frame. but the other clip would be wilt rejecting d-howard then telling him “keep it coming, i’m gonna be here all nite”

  27. validn10t says:

    I agree w/u luy 100%. BAD BOYS!

  28. AusNBA says:

Bogut and Kareem! that would be the most unstoppable duo ever

  29. charlie says:

Wilt Chamberlain blocking Dwight Howard’s hook was just wicked..

  30. Felix Diaz says:

rose pippen and jordan 82-0 whew

  31. Nesto says:

Just imagine kobe-magic-shaq vs pippen-jordan-rose !!!! shotgun front court seats
