An interesting day for the Lakers — after months of speculation about the futures of guys like Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, both of them stayed put, while seemingly Laker For Life Derek Fisher was somewhat unceremoniously shipped out in what was essentially a cost-cutting move.
After Dwight Howard, it’s possibly no other player was the subject of more speculation about his future than Gasol, famously prompting Kobe Bryant to call out Lakers management to poop or get off the pot, if you will.
The deadline passed today at 3 p.m. ET, and with Gasol still safely ensconced in Purple and Gold, he took to YouTube to address his situation, and you can feel the relief just pour out of him:
Classy guy. Like many, many players, I imagine he is very happy to have this day behind him.

Great move LA!, Yeah, We gone miss D_Fish, But we know every players has his limits and time zone, I’m sure the Fish understand this move and that it was best for the team, And I’m very happy Pau is still here, To put all matters aside, with Pau and Bynum, LA don’t need no Dwright Howard, All we need is for Mitch to continue to put the pieces together, Get another shooting forward and it’s game on again, But I do like our chances now, So lets play some LA.

Mitch if you are listening sheed and agent O are still available…… they would no doubt make the lakers the favorites lets getrdone! we now have a young playmaker, the best closer in the game, and the trees (Bynum & Gasol) we have someone thats going to make Barnes much more effective and lets not sleep on the other 2 guys aquired this week. Strong bench players and hill was a monster in college top ten in scoring for his former school. and the SF we got plays defense and runs well, he could fit in with either the starters or with the bench and spell both kobe and barnes. hill will do the same for gasol and bynum. Would however like sheed to wear laker gold his toughness and clutch shooting are in need. we will not out run anyone but we have definately gotten younger!

It’s a good decision for the laker management to keep Pau because he is a center/forward who can shoot in the outside and a very versatile player who ca score and rebound….that’s good news..
Now that your in Pau.. Its time to be tough.. Stop being soft n show everyone what the old Pau of 2010 can do. Be Mr Tough guy now.. Give Bynum n Kobe a hand n show the NBA what your really made of… Miami bring it on!!

Pau – Good to have you. Yes, it was very sad to see DFish go, it hurt a little more than Lamar’s departure. I am glad kind of Jason and Luke finally FINALLY I said brought some value to the team by being traded (time will only tell) if the new guys will pay off – we lost several first round picks to get these new dudes. these new dudes should realize they are A LAKER now…and ALOT is on their shoulders to carry and should NEVER EVER lose focus – Hopefully Kobe’s realism will HIT THEM HARD and FAST and soon they get to action – This is not Lebron James’ nor Miami heat or NY team..THIS IS THE LAKERS baby !!!!!!!
