Lakers Fan Pines For ‘Kobe That He Used To Know’

by Micah Hart

The Lakers’ season is over for the second straight season sans title, and with the team bowing out meekly in the second round once again it has a lot of people wondering if their run as title contenders with Kobe Bryant as top banana is over*.

*Spoiler alert – it is.

One downtrodden-looking fan has taken it upon himself to sum up many of the emotions the Lakers’ faithful are feeling right now, with a nod to Gotye‘s uber-popular song ‘Somebody I Used To Know’:

Solid effort all around. I particularly like how he realized he couldn’t hit the high notes in the chorus and dialed it down an octave. Knowing you can’t perform a certain way and trying a different method to be successful — seems like there is a lesson there…

There is a saying that a superstar players in sports gets the favorable calls to their advantages-but Kobe Bryant complains too much to the officials when he looses a ball missies a shot it seems he thinks he is either fouled or interefrred with in some form or fashion-he is a sore loosers and he is where sore loosers should be home on the bench.

    5 rings = sore looser?

You didn’t have to hog the ball…
You didn’t have to shoot the ball…
You are really not the Kobe that we used to know…

Waow, I was reading the “allball blog” on NBA.com and I stumbled upon a guy writing :
“it has a lot of people wondering if their run as title contenders with Kobe Bryant as top banana is over*.
    *Spoiler alert – it is.”
So I stopped for a second and was like : speaking of KB24 ? The leading scorer these playoffs ? The guy who torched the “unbeatable” thunder for 36/38/42 in the last three games of the series ? Trying to do it all by himself because of the lack of supporting cast ? The same guy who could have teamed up with CP3 for a killer backcourt combination until the league just prevented it to happen to ensure “new blood” would draw the fans’ attention during a shortened season due to the greed of both owners and players ?
Then I thought to myself : ‘this league is screwed’…
the Black Mamba just cannot do it all by himself, just put another player around him and you’ll see (and please don’t tell me about the irregular Bynum and the demotivated Gasol : which I understand, with what he went through during the Paul case…).

He was shooting 38.5% from the field in Games 1-4, had made 14 and 18 freethrows in Game 3 and 4. That is not torching the Thunder, that is getting major benefits from the refs to no end. In Game 3 the Lakers went 41-42 from the line which can only be topped by those 49 freethrow attempts in Game 6 against the Kings in 2002.

Face reality, Kobe just wasn’t good this season, he was barely solid…

kobe is just not a true team player. its no coincidence that he always has issues with his teammates. first shaq, then phil jackson, and now bynum and gasol. he is a hog but a great individual player but nothing more. kobe is like allen iverson just a great scorer, but he will never be considered great like magic, bird, jordan etc. these players were real great team players. kobe didn’t like the fact that the first three titles really belonged to shaq, shaq was the mvp. so kobe cries like a baby until shaq leaves. now kobe cant stand that bynum has potential so he hogs the ball so much that bynum cant get into rythm. kobe will never win another ring!!

  6. Ace says:

The lyrics suggest that Kobe has only recently become a selfish ball hog… Ummm, ok then, whatever you say!!

  7. Sean says:

Not a true Laker fan if your degrading the team leader. Kobe is the team captain he needs to take the final shots because the others have shown they cant shoot in the closing moments. All great players miss more than they make.

  8. OKC. says:

Wtf. Kobe is the greatest player ever better then jordon so stfu kobe is not in his 20′s anymore. 5 rings ok. okc will is my favorite team cuhz they were the seattle superonics but kobe is the greatest idgaf about jordon

  9. okc says:

i’ll bet you if they trade pau gasol the lakers will be a contender again &’ you guys will be back on the kobe bandwagon. so stfu. my gosh. kobe is the greatest to ever play the game once he gets his 6th ring so shut it down. Lebron will never be jordon or kobe. Enough said.
