Dwight’s Center Center For Centers (Video)

By Jeff Case

Lest we’ve all forgotten with the Dwightmare and Dwama and all, Dwight Howard can be a pretty funny guy when he wants to be. Things have gotten quite heavy in Lakerland with the 9-12 start and on and on, so if you’re an L.A. fan, this video is great proof of just how hilarious Howard might lighten your mood.

It’s a spot-on parody of those heart-wrenching ASPCA commercials for animal cruelty, from theĀ Sarah McLachlan-inspired song parody of “Angels” (we’re gonna say this song is called “Arms of Dikembe”) to the dramatic, somber tone of Dwight, you can’t help but get a chuckle.

It’s also perfectly timed to tie in with our man Steve Aschburner‘s Hang Time blog post about how removing the center position from the All-Star ballot might leave some of Dwight’s big man compatriots out in the cold.

Enjoy the laughs, everyone.

BONUS! A great behind-the-scenes video, too:

I feel like Dwight will never be spoken about in the same breathe as the greatest because he just doesn’t ever seem to be the best on the floor anymore.

I feel like Dwight must still be suffering lingering effects from his back surgery. He just doesn’t look 100%. They don’t run enough plays for him, and Kobe jacking up jumpers is not my idea of effective offense. Granted, he’s making them at a pretty decent clip, but the Lakers would be more involved if their leader was a different kind of leader. I think it’s worth it for Kobe to lose a few games and trust his teammates more. He shot 29 shots in their last game, and made 9 of them. They won, yeah, but Kobe has to wonder if he’s going to have a team with him in June if he keeps this up.
