The days of the oversized jersey are gone — at least we think so. Thanks to a number of companies focusing on stylish and fashion-forward sports apparel, specifically for women, we can agree that it’s not only important to show your team support but it’s also important to look stylish doing so.

locker legging and hoodie picAs a former NFL cheerleader and current NBA dancer, I know first-hand what it’s like to see and be passionate about a sport and team. I’m a lifelong basketball fan and to show my team spirit I was always looking for items I could wear to complement my support. I wanted to be able to wear my team’s gear on more than just game day, but there weren’t enough of the right products out there for me to choose from. Fit and style were always paramount, so inevitably I did what I had to: I designed my own gear. In 2010, I decided I would combine my love of sports and my passion for fashion and developed my own brand of women’s, sports inspired apparel. From that, Miss Fanatic was born.

Miss Fanatic clothing is tailored and versatile, sexy and fun, with dynamic materials and cutting edge designs allowing women to customize their team spirit. Team spirit reaches far beyond our game day gear Heat Hoodie Picand the range of our lines separates — including swimwear, beach cover-ups, sun dresses and leggings — offers countless opportunities to show your team support in style. The Miss Fanatic NBA gear features form-fitting cuts and plenty of details with rhinestones, sequins and studs making it exciting for women to incorporate into their everyday wardrobe.

I have to admit that we girls have an advantage to male fans when it comes to the limitless ways we are able to express our team spirit. Whether it’s through apparel, accessories, make-up or hair, there are countless ways for us to rock our team spirit. As the NBA Finals kick off, having those go-to pieces in your closet is clutch. For me, game day is an event. I look forward to and spend time planning out what I’m going to wear, and like most women I am always looking for something new. So having some versatility with your team apparel will give you dresses imagethe ability to change up your look and get the most out of your sports gear.

I like to utilize various pieces in my closet with my game day pieces. A sleek blazer or pair of denim with a game day piece and accessories for instance allows me the option to go out before and after the game in style! By utilizing pieces in the Miss Fanatic collection, I can go from the beach in the white sequin Miami Heat bikini with the white striped hoodie cover-up, to game night with friends, just by pairing it with a tank top underneath, some fun leggings and great shoes. You can also throw on the 3-way-wear ruffle dress, which can be worn multiple ways for some fun in the sun. When looking for sports fashions you want to find gear stylish enough to transition from game day to everyday, and these great pieces can all be found at http://store.nba.com.

As a fan of one of the most fashion-forward sports leagues, be sure to represent your favorite NBA team in style and will see who has the best dressed fans in the league.

  1. Sports definitely (especially basketball) has become not only about the game itself but now with so much exposure through today’s technology, about style and fashion. Everyone including the players are style focused on and off the court. Just look at Dwayne Wade, Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose, Lebron James and countless other B ballers that dress to impress or at least draw attention. And now with so many women fans of basketball, it’s only natural that they want to support their team in style. Women want to look good all the time even if it’s at a sporting event. Miss fanatic is awesome!!

Yes we can agree, but we can also disagree. Style is important to some, especially the companies that profit off of changing the style and selling more garbage. However, there are still those of us who enjoy supporting our team in those old oversized jerseys, a grungy old tee shirt, or that sweater we’ve had for decades.
