Don Draper Disses Dwight Howard

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Last night was the annual ESPY Awards, where ESPN gathers many of the best athletes, gives them trophies and televises the entire affair. This year the event was hosted by actor Jon Hamm, who of course plays Don Draper on Mad Men. Since they were all assembled in Los Angeles, Hamm cracked a few jokes at Dwight Howard‘s expense.

oh really? ^__^ LA wont make it to the playoffs for sure. kobe out half season. goodluck

    • Super Girl says:

PLAYOFFS’? AT LEAST LAKERS ARE ALWAYS COMPETITIVE – WELL I CAN NOT WAIT WHEN YOUR HOWARD WILL FAIL AGAIN AND AGAIN. THEN POINTS FINGERS AT THE COACH – FOR NOT ENOUGH TALENTS AROUND HIM. ND IMAGINE PLAYERS AROUND HIM HAVE NEVER WON A CHAMPIONSI!! IT’S HACK A HOWARD TIME!!! LIKE WHAT THE ESPYS SAID LAST NIGHT – FINALLY HOWARD WILL HELP LAKERS WIN GAMES BY LEAVING LOS ANGELES.

      • Huh? says:

Nice caps, mad bro? And if the Lakers do indeed go up against Houston in the playoffs and everyone on both teams are healthy, Howard is indeed going to get the last laugh. Now turn your caps back on and rage more LOL.

      • i’m a laker fan…but it’s tough for the lakers to be contenders again next year with their aging roster…but they can still get the 6th spot at best…howard’s team meanwhile will probably be on the top 4 next year

    • LMAO@U <– I TRULY DO NOT BELIEVE THAT IF LBJ, CARMELO. OR EVEN KEVIN DURANT WERE (FREE AGENTS) OFFERED THE SAME OPPORTUNITY OF A "LIFE TIME" TO PLAY IN LOS ANGELES AT THIRTY MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS TOTALING A SUM OF A 120 MILLION DOLLARS IN A MAX CONTRACT TO PLAY ALONG SIDE OF A FIVE-TIME TITLE CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER AND STILL TITLE CONTENDING TEAM HOLDING THE MOST NBA FINALS APPEARANCES CLAIMED IN NBA HISTORY WOULD BE THAT DUMB AND STUPID TO TAKE THEIR TALENTS TO A TEAM THAT WILL NEVER WIN A TITLE AS LONG AS THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THIS SPORT!!!!!!!!! REMINDER: SIXTEEN (16) TIME CHAMPIONS WITH 33 APPEARANCES MADE TO THE NBA FINALS…HURTS U TO KNOW THIS; DOESN'T, LOSER!!!!!

      • Average Joe says:

        Chill, dude.

      • james says:

the rockets have won an nba tittle

      • Fizzy-Wo says:

@James. Rockets have two titles actually. Back to back, even.

      • ko8e says:

haha all I have to say is 16 of 33 in the Finals…

Likely makes the Lakers the most Losing team in NBA Finals history…

Dwight wasn’t good for LA and LA wasn’t good for Dwight. His decision to leave will probably hurt the Lakers a bit and hurt Dwights future a bit too. In the end they will both be just fine.

It’s better that they are both going their own separate ways.

      • Elesa says:

LeBron would rather be in New York than LA.

    • D12 “LOSER” FOR LIFE

    • D12 IS THE ONLY PLAYER IN HISTORY WHO HAS MADE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE IN THEIR NBA CAREER, HE WILL SOON COME TO KNOW THIS WHEN THE LAKERS (ONCE, AGAIN) GO BACK TO THE NBA FINALS BLOWING THE ROCKETS OUT OF THEIR OWN HOME COURT!

      • natefilewood says:

Dude, calm down. This season will not be the Lakers year, thats ok… alright? Now where’s your carer gone…?

      • SAM REYES says:

i really LOL with that article Man they will make the playoff if they are lucky, maybe 8 seeded or out and kobe.

    • Yea and the rockets ended the Heats streak oh wait no they didn’t . Well at least they got past the first round in the playoffs oh wait no they didn’t. Well they secured that big baby (dwight) will stay oh wait no they didn’t. Only liked harden still do go to hell dwight listen to shaq

    • Toocrunk says:

Not sure if you are up on your basketball info, but Jim Buss stated that he expects Kobe to be back on the floor at the beginning of the season! FYI, Kobe Bryant was the reason The Lakers made it to the Playoffs! Did you notice that WITHOUT Kobe Bryant, The Lakers got SWEPT….I mean damn D-12 you could have won at the least ONE Playoff game without Kobe leading the way! The Lakers may not win a championship this coming season, but The Lakers will go to The Playoffs like they always do!

      • chalice says:

I know Jim Buss has stated Kobe will be back for the start of the season but realitically, why would he? The Lakers are a low playoff seed at best and have little to no hope at winning a title this year. Why should Kobe kill himself and try to get back early when he could wait a bit and truely give himself time to heal. Kobe has nothing more to prove at this stage in his career; he should take care of his body and come back when he’s 100%

  2. lakers 5 live says:

watch houston beat the lakers. dwight will get the last laugh.

  3. nigel says:

ya but who did d12 lose to the only time he made it to the finals?

    • spurs fan says:

dwight carry the team to the finals on his back similar to lebron in 2007 the experience wasnt there and he was the teams best man going head up with one of the greatest kobe bryant so and just like durant he lost to the heat against a team who made it to the finals 3 times prior to this year

      • Mutually says:

Don’t forget that the coach started an injured Jameer Nelson over Rafer Alston and gave him more minutes when Alston was the one giving them the production. Game 1 against the Cavs he led them with 31 points I think to the win. Also Game 1 against the Lakers could have gone either with especially with that last second alley oop that Courtney Lee missed. Also.. Jameer Nelson backing off D-Fish, one of the best clutch performers in the playoffs down by 3? I don’t think any of those were Dwight’s fault.

    • Huh? says:

And who did Dwight have at the time? Nelson? Hedo? Lewis? LOL get real. Who did Kobe have at the time? Bynum, Odom, Gasol.

      • yeah says:

hedo and lewis are at their A-game back then .. so why count them out?

      • Huh? says:

They both lacked defense and their offense were mediocre at best. Hedo was decent around the basket, but both of their game revolved around mid-long range jump shots. When you’re going up against 2 powerhouses in the inside like Bynum and Gasol at the time, with Kobe and solid role players like Ariza and Fisher on the outside, it’s not even a contest.

  4. Zacula says:

Jokes wont bother Dwine… he’s not intelligent enough to actually get the jokes.

  5. younge says:

be smooth d12 u anit nun kobe gone do him this season

  6. Bobby says:

Funny, but too bad Houston will win 20 more games than the Lakers, and possibly make the WCF.

    • CP403 says:

WCF? Youre Crazy man. The way they are built now the top seed they will rank is anywhere between 5-8. If (and they will) face OKC, SA, Memphis, LAC and GS they wont win the series.
IF they get out of the first round the jig is up come round 2.

Howard just isnt the difference maker people make him out to be. On defense, yes. But he hurts his team offensively late in close games

      • Average Joe says:

That’s what James Harden is for. You seem to think Howard is the only player on that team capable of being a difference-maker.

  7. DK says:

2013-2014 Western Conference Final : Rockets vs Clippers
    2013-2014 MVP: Dwight Howard!

  8. Legit says:

lol, that was cold..haha look at these D12 lovers, definitely a Kobe hater. Kobe didn’t do anything to diss D12.. blame Jon Hamm

  9. Loooser says:

Loooser.. Poor LA fan!! Externally Laughing, Internally Bleeding! Ha Ha Ha

  10. Lol says:

I’m gunna crack up when the exact same thing that happened with the Lakers happens with the Rockets this season. Last summer it was LA this and LA that and how the Lakes were the best in the west cause they got Howard…. sound familiar?

    • Huh? says:

People said the Laker’s were the best in the West last season (before the season even started) because they also acquired Nash to help dish the ball and take some pressure of Kobe. NOBODY (except Rockets fans) is saying that Houston is the best in the west because they acquired Howard. Everyone knows that the Spurs, OKC, and the Clippers (BY FAR the favoriate after picking up great pieces this summer) are still atop the Western ladder.

Though if the Rocket’s coaching staff experiment with Asik and Howard playing on the floor at the same time, it would be interesting to see how they mesh together.

      • Hibbs says:

the clippers are not the favourite. especially not by far. what did they pick up this season other than doc rivers? they went out in the first and are not going to get any further. z-bo and crew whooped that trick.

  11. lol says:

Houston Fans (& of course Lakers Haters) are all fired up but anybody who at least somewhat objectively analysed dwight howard’s pattern of behavior in last few years (his flamboyant departure from orlando.. his whining that kobe/los angeles/dantoni/fans/babymamas/nba commentators/the entire league/etc are too hard on him… his “stepping up & taking control of the team” once kobe got injured…) knows that those same fans will be the first to beg to trade him away from Houston. This manchild is bad news

  12. Chris says:

I am a laker fan and I even think that is messed up, just leave Dwight alone he wanted to go to Houston so he’s in Houston it’s over with

  13. MagicFan says:

The one laughin right now is… the magic

  14. manie says:

lakers fan are the worst fans ever. They ridicule anybody but kobe and wonder why would D12 leave LA

  15. CP403 says:

It doesnt seem like it now because the Lakers lost out on the games best true centre, but looking back on that trade that sent Bumnum to Philly and brought in D12 will be considered a sucess for years to come because they rid them of that headcase, had a glimmer of something special that could be in 12-13 and now moving forward the Lakers have cap room to work with beyond ’13.

When you boil it down LA and Houston (by way of LA) won big time by that trade. Orlando comes in 2 or 3rd. Denver and Philly just plain lost

    • TrueNBAFan says:

In no way did the Lakers win. They gave up Bynum, who was entirely devoted to the Lakers, to get Howard who even healthy wasn’t that much of an improvement over Bynum. They gave Odom the boot to clear cap space for Howard, they also insulted Gasol and put out the fire he used to have for the Lakers. And in the end what did it accomplish? The Lakers lost Howard, lost Bynum, lost Odom, and lost the real Gasol… how did the Lakers win anything in the Howard trade?

  16. Berdj says:

You guys know nothing about basketball. How’s Dwight getting the last laugh? Because he beat the rebuilding Lakers? Oh please. Dwight doesn’t even have the right to grin until he gets a ring in Houston, which he won’t.

  17. kb24 says:

Dwhine Coward doesn’t belong in LA. I mean, who leaves LA, who does that? Ever? That’s right you can’t handle the brightlights of LA like shaq said he belongs in small town like houston.

  18. Jim Muncy says:

Yep, it was Dwight’s fault LA stunk this last year. All he did was lead the NBA in rebounding and average almost 20 points a game. And that was coming off back surgery. You can blame LA’s lackluster performance on a lot of things but not on Dwight. If everyone on the Lakers had played their position as well as Dwight played his, the Lakers would have swept every team in the playoffs. All this “How can he leave the Lakers” talk is crazy. Easy answer. Dwight is a competitor and he is going to a better team. Those who think Howard isn’t that bright, let me see. He only has a limited number of years when he is young enough to be a dominant player in the NBA. He can spend them hoping that LA will rebuild and Kobe will recover or he can play them with a team that is stacked with young talent and has a big man’s dream as coach. If it were me, it would be good by show-time and hello Lone Star state.

  19. I love kobe says:

Worse shaq, worse Kobe, worse Eddie Jones, worse Phil Jackson. Worse bench and less money.

Yes, the rockets have successfully put together a worse version of the 3-peat lakers in a more competitive west.

This is a strong team but its nothing new and nothing special. I don’t see this team higher than 4 seed that can’t make it out of the 2nd round.

Love how the lakers are going after guys who are taking 10 mil paycuts for their chance to make their dream come true and play for the lakers. Best message you could send at this time.

    • Average Joe says:

And all of this coming from fans who thought their team was gonna win it all this past season, all because they had the best starting lineup (on paper). Man, that’s rich.

  20. NoLakerNoRocketsFan says:

I am not laker or Rockets fan…

Without Dwight = Lakers will win more games

With Dwight Rockets will win few games

But both teams will not go beyond first round.

Doubt Lakers will qualify for players…good thing happened for Lakers is the movement of Dwight,,,,

  21. Rockets420 says:

I’m from Houston and a Rockets fan and not one time have I heard anybody say anything about Houston being the number 1 team in the West around here. OKC and SA are probably the two best teams followed by Clippers. Everyone making all this hype all around us. We’re not saying anything about winning the championship this year. We’re top 5 in the West at best. Move on LA!

  22. D12 Who? says:

If D12 has moves like the great hakeem olajuwon or shaq then rockets will be a contender. But the truth is… he doesn’t have the soft touch of hakeem and the power moves of shaq.. so rockets will be at most get to WCF but will not make it to the finals.

  23. kcuf uoy says:

D12 is not gonna win a ring .. no ring at all

  24. Roy says:

Have fun next season LA LOL. Kobe probly not coming back full strength. Losing the best Center and defensive player in the league. As well as another great defender in Ron Artest. Then having you idiot management keep a terrible coach like Dan’Foni.

You guys may as well try to lose every game so you have a better chance at rebuilding. There is NO way you’ll make the playoffs with all the top teams getting tougher.

  25. Sonofabishop says:

Can’t wait for Kobe to destroy Houston on a regular basis. D12 = loser. LA are better with Pau, if they keep him.

  26. Jude says:

Dwight Howard would have made a better choice with the Golden State Warriors.

  27. Name says:

Lakers won’t even make the playoffs this year. If they do, they will lose at the first round. The Rockets will be at a high seed and make it at least to the second round, if not, the conference finals. Rockets > Lakers for 2013-2014

  28. Spire says:

Howard isn’t a big time player. He isn’t a superstar so people need to stop talking about him as if he is on the same level as Durant, Kobe, Lebron, Rose (before injury), Paul, etc. He may be the best center, but that doesn’t mean anything because the league is lacking in centers. I’d take a healthy Bynum over Howard any day. Howard isn’t a guy who can score by designed plays or in isolation unlike other bigs and stars. Stop treating this guy like a star. He is an above average big man. Nothing more.

  29. LA-Supporter@Manila says:

The anchor is RIGHT!! Truly RIGHT.. Anyway, LEBRON and CARMELO and KOBE will fit because they been together in USA Team.. Add Rajon and Gasul.. Right away, in 2014, LA will get its 17th Championships..

  30. E.Balnik-ZaValee says:

    That was somewhat funny.

Oh, and how about good old ballhogger jokes? Those are dealy right on the target in LA since 1996 NBA draft, so host could’ve thrown at least couple of those as well since he was on the subject of winning and losing if you know what I mean :)

  31. MyTwoCent says:

Dwight left LA because of Kobe. Throughout Kobe’s career he has proven himself to be a phenomenal offensive and defensive player, whose single focus is winning rings. There’s no doubting Kobe’s mental toughness and commitment to his craft. However, Kobe doesn’t make the players around him better; Kobe has a brilliant basketball mind but no ability or patience for teaching/bringing other players along. Kobe gets stops on the defensive end and scores points on the offensive end…that’s the extent of his contribution. Although he patterned his game after MJ, he’s nowhere near the leader MJ was. Kobe, like MJ, will struggle with getting older in the NBA. I don’t think Kobe will ever accept being the 2nd option…for him it’s elite level play or retirement. Btw, Howard could use some mental toughness…couldn’t take Kobe’s constructive criticism.

  32. D12 in Houston says:

All you haters of D12, beward and watch out for my return this coming season. No hate on Buss, kobe and the Lakers, they are a great organization, but Houston is just different. A title 20 years in the making post Dream & Clyde era. Stephen A, Houston to win championship next year and Dwight, Harden & the Rockets will rise again.

    Until next time.

  33. LAL4Life says:

This is what’s going to happen in Houston. Offense is still gonna go through James Harden, and Dwight Coward will be the anchor on defense. Then, Coward is going to start complaining about touches and drama will start up in Houston.

  34. integrity_rockets says:

If i wanted a mentor to show me the ropes on winning championships, I’d pick Hakeem Olajuwon over Kobe any time of the day.

  35. Matthew says:

No one really wants to play with Kobe…

  36. hellfest416 says:

I think Memphis is still the better team this coming season than the Rockets.

  37. YoungCat says:

Obviously D12 and Houston is going to go further than LA since Harden’s going to be doing most of the work and taking on the pressure.

  38. alex says:

I am a Lakers fan for life. I am saddened by Howard’s decision to leave Lakers. However, I do think that more teams are still willing to take a gamble on Howard than not. Let us wish Howard much luck with his dream of winning an NBA Championship. I also wish Kobe is back and compete hard in the upcoming season to show the world he is still a force to recon with.

  39. kobe24mamba says:

Dwight Howard is gonna get the last laugh? hahaha…lets see! harden was with westbrook ,Durant and Ibaka and still they didnt win any championship…Now you’re telling me with Dwight Howard they’re gonna win the Big thing? NAH! ABSOLUTELY NOT!

  40. SPURS-TACULAR says:

    During last season: HACK-A-HOWARD

    During off-season: DISS-A-HOWARD

    Next season: BOO-A-HOWARD

GIVE ME A TEAM THAT CAN EVEN GO TO THE FINALS THAT MANY TIMES IDIOT

  43. Tony says:

I’ll never know what he said about Metta World Peace.

  44. CALVIN says:

HOWARD AVERAGED 17 POINTS, 12.4 REBOUNDS AND 2.4 BLOCKS IN A SEASON WHERE HE CAME BACK FROM MAJOR SURGERY…AND….HAD TO LEARN TO PLAY IN A NEW TEAM….AND THE TEAM WAS RAVAGED BY INJURIES. FULLY FIT CENTERS DON’T GET THESE STATS. IF THIS GUY SETTLES INTO HOUSTON WELL THEY ARE GONNA BE A FORCE.

  45. Dwight has the potential to be the best center of all-time, but its a little too bad that he decided money was more important than success

  46. D12 has the potential to be one of the greatest centers of all time, but its too bad he decided money and being named the captain of a team was more important, I personally think hes gon soft, hopefully he proves me and everyone else wrong in Houston.

  47. Fern says:

Lakers won’t come back for years until Kobe is gone. I don’t believe LeBron would ever go to the Lakers–not with an aging Kobe. I dont believe Carmelo can even play with Kobe since both are ball hoggers. It took from 6 years from 2003 to 2009 for Kobe to win 2 back to back championships but only with the help of Bynum and Pau Gasol. It is not easy building a championship team. It does take time. It took the Miami Heat from 2006 to 2012 to win back to back championships. Six years too. So if you Lake Fans think it is going to be right away Lakers can win a championship, dream on. In 6 years Kobe will be in his 40’s. . They have to start rebuilding now and in 2014. Kobe may have the drive but not the body.

  48. Eaham says:

Laker fans are starting to sound like Dan Gilbert when Lebron left Cleveland. I sincerely hope Houston wins a ring with Dwight just so I can watch the Laker fans reactions hahaha

  49. Filipino Idiot says:

D12 IS THE BEST CENTER OF ALL TIME!!! HE CAN GO WHEREVER HE WANTS AND HE WILL BRING CHAMPIONSHIP TO WHEREVER HE GOES TO.

  50. cerebro7 says:

Laker Fans… just so ignorant.. simply the worst sports fans ever. (85% of em)

  51. hellfest416 says:

    lol

  52. d sosa says:

First ,im from sA. Spurs fan. Howard leaving La. Good for both sides. La wont compete for at least 2 seasons. Any betting people? Ha. Kobe WONT BE. back at start of seasON . THATS a prOmise. He didnt sprain an ankle guys. Anyways, kobe Out. la is just a terrible team. Period. Houston . Dwight and Harden. Crazy. They have a good back court. Howard stops smiling this year and watch out.. Go SPURS.

  53. Pedro says:

As a Laker fan I can admitt that we needed Dwight now, specially with Kobe out. But in the long haul we definetely don’t need him. No commitment, no heart and no head to handle the pressure. Kobe would continue to bash him anytime he didn’t show up and perform.
As a matter of fact, the guy has NO excuses now to be a contender and win big.
The Lakers, on the other hand, have a year to fit in D’anthony’s system, rest Kobe and a possible big time free agent coming aboard next season.
The truth is no true Laker fan is expecting a title now with this roster.

  54. Tony says:

I think Bill boards were just a smoke screen… I dont think Lakers really wanted Howard

  55. jimbo says:

Mytwocent… you hit the nail on the head. This is exactly the reason the Lakers are done until they retool. Jim Buss says Kobe will be back at the beginning of next season. Why does he say that… to keep selling tickets. There is no reason for Kobe to come back early from this serious injury at age 34. They will be 8th seed, 7th at best, so Kobe needs to get as much rest as he can in order to be strong for the playoffs. Kobe is as brilliant a SG as has ever come along…but he is no leader. Bummer for a team with young players, or for a team trying to meld a group of experienced and inexperienced players together without a strong disciplinarian coach. Yes, this coming season Kobe will get his points and will win a few games with game ending plays… but the Lakers are ill-equipped to do battle with the top tier teams in the league. All you Kobe lovers out there who will call me a “hate monger” for my comments, please use spell check and write in complete sentences. Thank you.

the rockets wont make it to the WCF. itll be OKC VS GSW . eveybodys overrating the rockets and forget that GSW signed iggy so theyll be better . the warriors have a good starting lineup and a good bench with toney douglas and harrison barnes and everybody else
