Pranking With The Spurs Big Three

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Just in case you haven’t noticed, right now the San Antonio Spurs have the best record in the Western Conference, at 13-1. They have won 11 games in a row, are 7-0 at home, and their last (and only) loss this season was all the way back on November 2.

Hey, we get it: The Spurs do what they do. They execute, they move the ball, they defend, they win. It’s not rocket science. But they do this with such remarkable consistency that it can become almost stultifying. People start to think of the Spurs as basketball robots — they have no feelings, no emotions, they just want to make the proper passes and find the open guys and oh hey the Spurs won again.

Which is why this video clip is so valuable: During the waning moments of a recent 30-point win over Cleveland, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich had his big three (Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan) resting on the bench. And here, caught on video, we see Manu pull the old “Make Tim Duncan sit on the paper cup” trick.

VIDEO: Big Three Pranking

We know the Spurs are great, but now they’re actually having fun, too? Watch out. Next thing you know Tim Duncan will be throwing his warm-up jacket at analyst Sean Elliott

Even they won 82 games in a row they will still lose to Miami when they meet again in the Finals. Big 3 of Spurs can’t match up the Big 3 of Miami!!!

    • sanunero1 says:

Wow…did you watch the finals last year? Even with an extremely hobbled parker they were within seconds of winning….cudos to miami for pulling it out but to say the spurs could not compete is both ignorant and obnoxious.

    • xantheus says:

      get a life dude

    • Spurs says:

Of course both teams are great and it will be tough for the spurs but you forget they were 1 rebound away of wining the finals, have a little respect for one of the top nba organizations in more over a decade

    • kash says:

      That’s just an ignorant comment.

    • Nope says:

Spurs are the rightful champions. And its no longer a big three. Big Four with kawhi leonard.

    • Oldi says:

lol that series could have went ether way.. Missed free throws and lucky rebound and travel three that’s how lucky the heat were. Like all great players say if you don’t have luck on your side then the other team will have it and end up getting those critical plays.

    • EnglishFan says:

why have people like you got to put a downer on a team who are playing great? just appreciate what the spurs are doing for once instead of riding the heat and lebron bandwagon! and for your info, the Heat would not beat the Spurs in a 7 game rematch, the Spurs are better and deeper than they were last year.

    • lbj sucks says:

Lucky shots won’t happen this time. Lbj better get ready this year to get DUNC’ed on.

    • LAKERSLAKERSLAKERS says:

make no mistake, miami didn’t win as much as the spurs lost that series. i wonder if you were one of those who left the arena in game 5.

    • Bobby Tables says:

Except that they did, and almost defeated Miami in 6 games if not for a successful 3 pointer…made by someone who’s not actually part of Miami’s “big 3″ ;)

    • dynasty says:

      bought dynasty v built dynasty…

with the new addition to the line up– they have a more versatile bench compared to last year

    • sammmmmmmmy says:

      hahaha … thats cute

    • Sarge says:

You mean that team that was a rebound away from beating them? C’mon, man. Give credit where credit is due.

    • miguel says:

I think you mean Spurs Big 3 cant beat Miami Officials, Ray Allen was travelling when he made the 3, and the play before that he was out of bounds.
Miami was lucky against Indiana, they will run out of luck this time.

    • Chow says:

      Kinda silly

    • Animated Movie Tournament says:

      Plot twist: you’re wrong.

    • Matt says:

      lbj – LOL

    • Cisco says:

Keep your big 3. We’re beating Miami with a complete team performance.

    • Tom says:

they already did, and lost by 1 board in a series where miami had home court… If there’s one team miami doesn’t want to face, it’s the spurs.

    • You just an Idiot aren't you!! says:

Heat won’t make it to the Finals 1st off AND if they did there is NO way the Spurs are going to give the Chip away like they did last Finals!!! Even the Real LBJ said they got lucky!! Go drown yourself some where in the Florida coast you idiot!! That or get to know real Basketball!!!

    • MIAMI IS A JOKE says:

JAJA MIAMI IS LOCKY THEY SKIP SPURS IN 2012 , MIAMI WIN YEAH BUT THEY DINT DOMINATE THE SPURS , ACTUALLY THEY WERE LUCKY SPURS MISS 2 FT AND COACH MAKE THE MISTAKE OF TAKE DUNCAN OUT SOU IF U REALLY THINK THE SPURS ARE GONNA ALLOW DOES MISTAKE AGAIN U CRAZY , MIAMI CAN WIN A CHAMPION WE OUT HOME CO AVEN ,SOU BE CAREFULL WHAT U ASK FOR , ONLY WAY MIAMI WIN 3PEAT IS 1)INDIANA HAVE INJURYS PROBLEM 2)THEY SKIP SPURS AT FINALS

    • BB says:

True. Except that it will e Indiana in the Finals!

    • anti-miami says:

      Miami big 3=traitor+flopper+sucker

    • henriquepgomide says:

I know that Miami is a better team but I’m not so sure about that. Miami almost lost last season.

    • rocketman says:

everywhere i go a stupid heat fan keeps bringing the heat into any discussion

    • nicky2gs says:

      ha! lame. Someone feels threatened…

    • Alejandro says:

Lmao spurs its a completely great team not, never compare the heat, heat has to buy super stars to won titles, even since everybody know that LeBron J, is a good player he cant make himself.. he needed to find a such great team… Spurs its an old team but since we have Pop as a couch trust me u will see spurs in finals many times.,.. no meter what we trade or acquiere …

    • TD21 says:

LOL maybe your english has something to do with the heat’s success.

    • anthony says:

      heat have no bench.

    • 05 Spurs>Heat says:

Lol listen to yourself man. Spurs gifted the Heat a championship last year, don’t expect the same to happen this year. Pacers in 6 against the Heat.

    • Mad_Skillz says:

Thats if Miami make it out of the East. Indiana is beasting (Boston Fan by the way) right now. When they get Granger back, that will even increase their chances. Going for the 3peat will be tough and thats only for Legends, not saying Miami cant do it — but every other team have built their team\game plan to beat Miami. Still early days though, Big 3 or no Big 3 Spurs has always been underrated, but you cant deny the chemistry they have there and you need that if you want to go for the title. Pop knows how to bring out the best in players

    • Iceman says:

LBJ please allow me to educate you on basketball.

With all due respect Miami was mentioned nowhere within this post nor did it say anything about the spurs winning the finals. The post was about the spurs having fun as a team, not that they will beat Miami or that they will make the finals. So i believe your comment is irrelevant in the context of this post. I understand that you are a Miami fan, as am I or you may not be and are just expressing your view. However once again your view in this regard is irrelevant because the post does not talk about the fact that both teams have blown each other out, or the fact that the spurs have set both team and NBA records on the heat nor does it mention that it was not Miami’s big 3 that won us the championship but rather Ray Allen who got us to a game 7 with his clutch 3 in game 6.

Yes currently we have the best big 3 in the NBA but if you are a true basketball fan you should know that the spurs do not operate specifically on their big 3 hint Danny Green, George Hill, Gary Neal or the group that almost beat us last season when the spur’s big 3 did not even play. We would have lost that game too if not for..Ray Allen’s clutch 3.

    • RG says:

sorry, but you can’t guarantee that. the Spurs almost took them down last season, and IF both teams meet up again in The Finals, the Spurs have as good of a chance to knock them out this time around. it’s not just about having a Big 3. it’s about playing team basketball, which is why the Spurs are always in the mix to win it all.

    • usaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa says:

if the spurs won 82 games that means that u have won against miami in the regular season therefore the spurs can match your “amazing” big three

    • heat suck says:

HEAT GOT LUCKY! YOU KNOW IT AND THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS IT! IF THEY MEET AGAIN HEAT WILL FALL AND FAIL AND CHOKE

      • lbj says:

DUNCAN IS THE ONE WHO CHOKE HE MISSED A 2 FEET HOOK SHOT WITH ONLY SHANE BATTIER JUST STANDING INFRONT OF HIM. THAT MAKES THEM LOSE

    • rmad22 says:

lbji that is a stupid comment to post when the spurs shut out the big 3 from miami last year .. if memory serves right if it wasnt for ray allen who isnt in the big 3 sinking that shot they wouldnt be champs again , think before you comment about the 13-1 spurs with the 11-3 heat …

    • Ben says:

Spurs Big 3 > ALL of the heat players. Just Saying. Yall be lucky to get back in the finals. I highly doubt they will get back with the pacers doing so good this season. As much as we want revenge this season in the finals, its probably not gonna happen. It will be Spurs V.S Pacers and the spurs taking it all this year. GO SPURS GO!

    • jersey says:

miami is just lucky to win game…..

    • TD says:

And you just wasted your time reading a Spur article. Bah.

    • Aslan says:

haha are you insane? Wade can’t play and Bosh is just another overrated PF. They counted on the traitor Allen in the finals. Shame.

    • joeh811220 says:

you mean the big one maybe two. They got to get by the Pacers first!

    • joeh811220 says:

You mean the big one or two. They got to get by the Pacers first and good luck with that. Lebron is back in Cleveland this year or might as well be.

    • Jepoy says:

In fact they did, if it wasn’t for Ray Ray your so called King in the last minute choked again. His legacy will be defined as the best choker of all time hahaha

    • shut up says:

the spurs big 3 in their prime was much better than those stupid fags of MIAMI

    • Arrector says:

Can’t match up? Nonsense. I think they did that pretty well.

    • val says:

      Miami Tool.

    • Nick says:

In case you didn’t notice it was Ray Allen who saved their tails. The “big three” were all but done until that point!

      • Sal says:

But u guys are forgetting if Chris bosh who last i checked was part of the big three didn’t get rebound nd kick it out Allen or if lbj hadn’t made the three rite b4 allen did there wouldn’t b a game two really big plays….but I do agree this post was bout spurs having fun so it is kinda stupid mentioning about heat

    • AD says:

I like Miami,,,and what you said about SA is just stupid

    • Mike says:

Wow, someone doesn’t sound like he rides a bandwagon at all. The Heat did not win the title last season, they escaped with it. They know they got lucky.

    • bierhoff23 says:

can’t match up? I’m sure you were peeing from your eyes with 7 seconds to go in game 6. It would be a great match up again with a 50/50 chance for either team.

    • Spur says:

Miami really can’t beat the Spurs in the Finals this year. Not when Kawhi Leonard is about to have his best year, along with the big three plus Danny Green. And on top of that, Miami won’t even make it to the Finals. Not while the Pacers are here. #GOSPURSGO

    • Lauhan says:

To LBJ, they were 28sc away to do it last year,so i don’t take that as a statement. don’t get me wrong Miami has a great Nuke of players with in top of it the MVP but never underestimate a great team. Coach Spo and the players in Miami are fully aware of it and doesn’t rule them out the way you do. I guess being French doesn’t help to take it also. lol

    • SA says:

If they couldn’t match, they wouldn’t have been within 28 second of winning it all… just saying.

    • Jason says:

Can’t match them? Last years finals were a down-to-the-wire seven game series, did you even watch them play? And all I can say, if Tony and Duncan would be 5 or 6 years younger, there would be no contest, Spurs would have taken that championship.

      • Sal says:

R u serious I can say the same thing bout dwade or bosh that if they were 5 years younger there is no way spurs beating them he’ll no

      • lbj says:

NONE SENSE COMMENT 5 YEARS YOUNGER? NBA IS NOT A GAME TRAVEL. HOW ABOUT DWADE PRIME. THEY WILL NEVER EVER EVEN GET INTO GAME 6 IF DWADE STILL ON HIS PRIME

    • Eta says:

the Miami Heat have more of a 2 1/2 to 2/14, Chris Bosh hasn’t been doing as much as he could. Also the refs won the last finals, and the Spurs will prove they are the best team of all the NBA. Teamwork is better than having the same 3 people trying to carry the team on their back, this will lead to the Heat’s downfall if any of them get injured, while the Spurs have players in Danny Green, Boris Diaw, Kawhai Leonard, Marco Belinelli, Corey Joseph, Patty Mills, and Tiago Splitter that can help fill the ranks if any of the REAL big 3 are ever hurt.

  2. Erik says:

    Huh???
    Chill out dude…
    Why so serious?
Your comment is too irrelevant to Mr. Lang’s feel-good post…
    Geeeez… such a fanatic…

  3. Torien says:

I’m pretty sure their Big 3′s are about even, but the Heats bench doesn’t even come close to the spurs bench

    • lbj says:

NOT EVEN CLOSE? THAT’S WHY ALLEN AS A BENCH PLAYER LOOSES THEIR MIND WHEN HE HIT THE TREY. DUNCAN SUDDENLY OUT OF HIS MIND AND HIS EYE GOT BIGGER WHEN HE SAW THE 3′s

  4. hahaha, it is a very fun video. If you watch it more than once you will notice that Gino is actually talking to nobody, just pretending. Parker is just holding back laugh, and it is clear, given Duncan´s reaction, that it is not the first time they do that. Bellinelly is not aware of the prank (not among the big three, uh! XD).

  5. mike says:

    yo it aint 3 on 3 hahaha….

  6. idj says:

Miami’s not even gonna beat indiana

  7. spurs fan says:

    we will see.

  8. j smooth says:

Bandwagoner. They will play forreal this year. Tim gets number 5.

  9. Cruzmtc says:

We will be back. I just hope the Heat are…

  10. Lol the Heat BARELY eeked out a win with homecourt advantage against a team whose best days are behind them…grats brah

  11. Alfie says:

they were old but still ageless when you watch them played..Heats squad are too young dude to compare, they were athletic and strong…its just a matter of style and system..remember last season Heat could lost to the finals and having hard time to beat Spurs, that series was tough and went thru game 7.

  12. Kramer says:

Great comment lbj so insightful. You could get a job with ESPN with those sorts of informative comments.

  13. dynasty says:

    Jenko’s epic split

  14. Lebrown BJ-ing Ray Allen says:

Miami’s Big 3? from what I can remember it was Ray Allen’s 3 that saved Miami from the Spurs not your so called Miami’s Big 3 or in the real world Miami’s Band Wagon 3 =]

  15. heat all day says:

true that lebron would lose his headband and go beast

  16. Michael says:

This video is GOLD! Tony puts the towel in front of his face because he was trying not to laugh before it even happened. Manu pretends to have a convo, hiding the cup, and Tony leans forward to make room. Tony does a double fist pump when the cup is successfully delivered, whoopee cushion style. Clowns!

  17. poda lbj poorimone says:

    lbj pooraa….

miami won game 6 by luck..2 lucky bounces and both went for 3s… you opportunistically forgetting that

  18. Sri says:

Then how Miami able to survive with championship in last 5 minutes of game 7 with Spurs? Miami Big3 are way younger and faster than San Antonio’s..@ lbj

  19. Spurs_Ideal team says:

You can say that and yet the Miami will always be known as the BOUGHT team and CREATED team based on Money and LBJ’s idea that he cannot carry his team to glory without a superstar beside him. He moved to MIAMI because of desperation. Same with Bosh. By the way, there is no BIG 3 in Miami, it is just DWADE and OTHERS!!!!

  20. LOUESDON French's fan says:

Can’t imagine our NBA’s life without our Big 3… They are not robots…..just players….They love that game !!! and we too… Go Spurs

  21. Tim Duncan says:

I dont think Miami will come out of the East this year.

  22. kd says:

Miami fans kill me…. even winning titles still have to run there mouth… this is why people RESPECT the Spurs and players of DIVA stature belong in MIA. Grow up

  23. Lauhan says:

Guys, sometimes i wonder if somebody knows the game around. Miami deserved the title no objection to that, Not recognising the threat from the Spurs are just foolish. If you remember the post conferences every body had the upmost respect for the Spurs and should they have won it in 6, nobody would have argued it was as well deserved. 2 great teams, 2 great organisations and coaches and yes 2 great 3 main players from both sides with good if not very good role guys performing night after night. That was a fun final, was sad of the outcome but not upset. Lets enjoy this coming one and see what we will get out of it in June.

  24. venjo says:

They are good — but they are just kinda BORING to watch, really.

    • You just an Idiot aren't you!! says:

Only thing boring about the Spurs is hearing people like you that must never watch a game, cause if you did you see that the Spurs are one of the most entertaining teams in the NBA today!! Any team with the likes of Manu, Belineli, Diaw, and Parker is going to have a show. Even TD has some flashy plays like dunking in Gasols, Ibaka, and many other top tier defenders face!! If you don’t know then just don’t speak on it. You must be a fan of one of the teams that got killed by the Spurs and it was boring because you got tired of seeing your team lose!

  25. David says:

Big three pre-retired Spurs are almost the same level as Miami Big three at the top of his career

  26. Jnwestra says:

Okay listen up morons, the heat werent LUCKY because spurs missed two free throws, the spurs just couldnt hit those free throws in crunch time. Thats their fault and the het took advantage of that. Even though they probably wont 3peat, er even make the finals for that matter, show some respect to the heat. Everyone is hating on the first commenter for trashtalking about the spurs, but how are you guys any different about the heat?

  27. freal says:

On the real…this thread made me realize that literacy is a major issue in America
