The (Awkward) Tradition Continues: Rockets Sing ‘Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel’

By Jeff Case

Three years ago in this very space, we hipped you to the Houston Rockets attempting to sing the Hanukkah classic, “I Have a Little Dreidel.” Ahh, memories of then-Rockets Luis Scola, Kyle Lowry, Shane Battier, Chuck Hayes and other since-departed Rockets belting out the song in their own unique way.

In 2011, we weren’t treated to a version of the song (at least as far as we here at All Ball HQ could find, anyway). Then, last year, we got a fresh version, with Jeremy Lin, James Harden, Chandler Parsons (and some other since-departed Rockets) singing the Dreidel song.

Thanks to the fine folks at, we have the 2013 version. This one features Dwight Howard, Patrick Beverly, Parsons, Ronnie Brewer, Omri Casspi and others. (Bonus points, too, for including Aaron Brooks … he was in the 2010 version.)

  1. lbj says:

Singing this none sense song will not give you any ring Dwight! you need to play with the king “LeBron”. We will trade 1 draft pick center Greg Oden plus future first round pick for Kevin McHale to release Dwight!

  2. dz says:

omri should have sang it in hebrew

  3. Julian says:

Looks like Greg Smith’s knee is alright

  4. TheReturn says:

poor Ronnie Brewer got more time in that video than he has in his entire two months on the Rockets.

  5. dave says:

haha this is great. How come James Harden didn’t get involved

  6. Dan says:

Omri sing them a Hannukah song in Hebrew!

  7. Austin says:

I almost lost it when he started singing Animaniacs lol

  8. Entreverde says:

Too bad Delfino is not in Houston anymore!

  9. KALIWALI says:

Dwight howard… nothing but a money making player. He aint nothing 7 footer who cant post up properly. A ring??? cant do and cant have for him.

  10. B West says:

Guys on a real, why is everybody still tripping over D12 leaving? I mean players get traded even when they them selves don’t want to leave the team, and everyone is tripping because a player decided to go to a new team. It’s his career so I am sure he is allowed to make them. Also D12 gets his numbers he is still one of the best centers in the league. I am a Lakers fan and I was saddened by him leaving but I not life goes on. Let the guy do what he needs to do.

It’s the same drama when Lebron left and he is currently playing pretty good.

So sit back and enjoy the show.
