Kobe Bryant Responds To Injury News

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Back in April, when Kobe Bryant tore his Achilles tendon, he posted an epic message on Facebook sharing his most personal feelings. After word came down tonight that Kobe would miss the next six weeks with a fracture in his left knee, Kobe responded via Twitter with a few short but obviously heartfelt messages…

I have watched Kobe for all his years as well as his fellow NBA ballers. I wonder if Kobe recognizes or for that matter can even comprehend how his teammates feel about him. One could argue that his teammates secretly or maybe not so secretly even are overjoyed to have him off the court and not playing. As we all know there is only one ball on the court at a time for those of us who have played the game-well we know it is never fun to play with a Kobe Bryant-or for that matter never good for ones own development. Afterall, Kobe went so far as to give a teammate critical advice in the format of more than three hundred way of improvement that the player should think about. This critique of course came at pretty much the end of the players time in the league. So, apart from Kobe being great, and he is-there are other issues that one can not help but agree with that make one with he were out for good.

  2. PLEASE retire it would be one less shot chucker in this league. if I see the lakers on espn or tnt and kobe is playing I cant even stand to watch this guy shoot when hes double teamed like what a selfish player. No wonder why nobody wants to play with him. Shaq got his 3 finls mvps and got out just in time!

    • "Only 5 Ring" guy says:

you are the reason why heat fans are the most hated nowadays. Hope u understand what karma does to one person. Just wait for it. you better hope ur Lebron get 5 rings because before you know it. no one will claim him be as good as kobe and mj.

    • LA says:

How bummed are you gonna be when Lebron comes to LA and wins a real 3 peat? Go dig a hole kid.

    • KB24 says:

@ “LebronHeatThreePeat” you’re an IDIOT!!!! i Cannot wait till next year – till they break your “Super” team (The Heat) apart!

when did you start watching Baskeball; 2010? what a loser! you probably dont even know anything about basketball. what a tool.

  3. 30milliondollars!!!! says:

I have a heartfelt word for kobe too. Done.

  4. kulangot says:

how many more injuries before kobe gets the message?

  5. Marko_M_Cro says:

Probably not this season, but the next Lakers will be a contender again. Kobe will be a key player again, his mental strength and desire to win will propel him the team. Have to bring a point guard though and another consistent offensive player.

  6. Romeo says:

Sad, but i think this is the end for Kobe. He should have really tried to keep Howard, Kobe cannot take all the load like he used to before…the Lakers are done for. #RIP

    • "Only 5 Ring" guy says:

He tried to keep him in his own lakers traditional way. howard was never suit for it. also howard was trying to get rid of kobe once and for all. so why keep a guy when he was trying to get rid of you in the first place.

      • kobefanjay says:

the other all time leaders in free throw attempts surrounding Kobe are the leagues greatest big men in history(minus Mr.Bill Russell)

  7. scott says:

THE MAMBA WILL STRIKE AGAIN GET WELL MY BROTHER KOBE!!!!!!!!!

  8. Lakerhater says:

I hate the Lakers, and I hate Kobe. BUT I hate to see this happen in the NBA especially when it’s a truly competitive player. I’ve hated to watch Kobe win, but I’ve loved to see him play. Hope he comes back to end his career the way a player like him deserves to end it, on his terms when he’s ready to walk away.

    • LA says:

Much respect for a laker hater. True nba fan right here.

    • KB24 says:

Nice Comment! you dont have to like Kobe but RESPECT his game – unlike all these other Heat fans – they are so annying – the day that team gets broken up – that will be a joyous day in the NBA.

      #Miamiheatfansarelosers

      • Common Sense says:

Give respect to an nice comment and then follow it with miami heat fans are losers? Man, I almost had respect for you…

  9. Pastorlg says:

That’s how this game is…get well soon. And I hope that you will get that six ring before you step off the court as a player

  10. Beware says:

And he still played more than Derrick Rose.. lol

  11. Shooter By Night says:

You guys just make comments and have never played at a high level or played at all for that matter. When you play at a high level, you can’t just shoot shots let along just throw up shots and when 5 championships. As for shooting alot, MJ shot more than anyone in NBA history. NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT THAT HUH? Did you all know when Kobe and Shaq played together, Shaq average more FGA than anyone in the league. I understand if you don’t like the guy personally, but let’s not tarnish his legacy because you hate his skill. Food for thought, the last 15 years in the league what player works the hardest? What players has the best skill set? What player has the most respect from his peers? Sorry people never want to play with talented people, because talented people get all the shine! They shine because of their work ethic, they’re sorry because they don’t work a hard. Go Kobe!!!!!

    • Common Sense says:

But then again MJ averaged over 50% in his career at Chicago and Kobe has has never even gone one year above 50%. Finally, MJ was all around good, more steals, more rebounds, more block shots, etc. But you have a point, stars demand the ball, and haters hate… And there were a lot of players that fit that descriptions in the past 15 years, but if you mean that are still in the NBA today, there are only a handful…

      • kobefanjay says:

The fg% is not as cut and dry…Kobe is the “timestopper” he has become a master of stopping the clock and getting to the line…they cant all be and1’s…he still appeared to be good at this from what I saw…this is one of the most crucial things in winning a championship.

  12. Kobe will be back before 6 weeks playing and will use the last half of the season getting his strength back; Lakers will NOT make the playoffs. Kobe will then work hard in off-season to get back to previous form and come back with a vengeance next year. Realistically the Achilles injury takes ONE FULL YEAR to get right – I don’t care what Kobe does. His leg that was operated on is vulnerable to injuries right now – which is what happened with this fracture. Toward the end of this season you will start to see Kobe averaging 25 a game again and will do so the next two years barring injury again. If he does get injured significantly again – he should strongly consider retiring. But for the Kobe haters out there, I can understand your angst against him for personal non-basketball related things – but from a pure NBA entertainment showman, Kobe Bean brought his A game and it will be sad day when he is gone from the NBA as a player. He is fun to watch on an NBA court and there are NOT many players I would pay to watch.

  13. FunkyAxl says:

Bring Kevin Love to L.A, he’s from L.A and wants to be here!

Wish my Kobe to get back healthier so he can prove wrong all haters.

    Purple n’ Gold b*atches!

  14. trueNBAfan says:

do u kobe haters really think that your words can really demoralize mamba. and u flippin sayin that you change the channel when kobe game is on.. this proves why you are even here in this page first of all. u should be not surfing the nba webpage nemore lol. tbh i would watch paul george, james harden, westbrook, durant, etc rather than lebron cuz he dont even have fundamental depending in his natural body dominance PS i dont hate lebron

  15. Jim Muncy says:

I hope Kobe is back soon. He has worked so hard to get here and those of us who love to see competitive basketball appreciate all he brings to the game. I do not root for the Lakers but I am certainly rooting for a quick recovery for Kobe. Kobe, we will miss watching you while you are out.

  16. MAMBA FAN 1 says:

SINGLE HANDEDLY THE 2ND GREATEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME.. HANDS DOWN THE GREATEST LAKER. KOBE IS THE CLOSEST THING TO MICHAEL, AND IF U CANT WATCH HIM OR YOU HATE ON HIM YOU DO NOT KNOW BASKETBALL. HE IS A KILLER, HEART OF A LION, WHO ELSE WOULD TEAR AN ACHILLIES AND COME OUT SINK TWO FREE THROWS?, WHO ELSE WOULD FRACTURE A KNEE AND CONTINUE TO PLAY THEENTIRE FOURTH QTR? WOULD LEBRON? LOL HIGHLY UNLIKELY. KOBE WILL COME BACK BECAUSE THATS WHO HE IS. THE FIERSIST COMPETITOR THIS GAME HAS HAD SINCE MJ. EVERYONE THAT SAYS KOBE IS A BALL HOG ARE DUMB, WHEN SHAQ WAS THERE SHAQ DOMINATED THE BALL. WHEN SHAQ WAS THERE LOOK UP PLAYOFF STATS ON KOBE HE IS THE ONE WHO CARRIED THEM LOL KOBE WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS A CONSTANT WINNER, HIS LEGACY WILL NEVER BE TARNISHED. 24 WILL HANG IN STAPLES!!!!!! MAMBA WILL BE BACK LURKING TO STRIKE… FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME!!!!!!!

  17. KDJ1989 says:

KOBe is still the best player to this generation and overall, the last 2 decades. Its crazy how you suppose “True Basketball Fans” are showing such a level of disrepect for such a competitor, in such a dark hour of his career. Its okay not to like Kobe but, its a new level of disrespect to not an acknowledge this Athlete for his recent or past accomplishments. Come on.. This is the only ACTIVE PLAYER that is still challenging MJ for most championships won in the last 30 years, other than Tim Duncan. OK.. So what, Lebron is a two time champion..Good for him.. But, he wouldnt be a champion, if he never “Took his talent to South Beach”. Kobe is still the best and most fear competitor of the 20 years. BOW DOWN to the TRUTH KING

    • Common Sense says:

I agree on the respect and hater comments but…Ummm.Robert Horry, Frank Ramsey, Jim Loscutoff, John Havlicek, Tom Sanders, K.C. Jones, Tom Heinsohn, Sam Jones and Bill Russell all have more rings than Jordan, and by the way, Derek Fisher just might get the ring before Kobe…

THAT IS WHY THE LAKERS SHOULD TANK, doesn’t that make sense

  19. LUKACRO says:

Kobe is not done yet. He is too much of a competitor and has too much pride to play under the level we have seen him play over the course of the last 15 years. He will be back and I expect him to get in “Kobe” shape by March. He is not like Arenas, Amare, T-Mac, Vince… once phenomenal players that lasted just so much, Kobe is not “just” a great player, he is a legend. And guess what legends do? They write their own story, under their own terms.

  20. FrankL2010 says:

Maybe just a few of us noticed that he knew that something went wrong in the third quarter when he was holding his knee trying to stretch it out. And probably few of us knew that it would be hard to play when you’re feeling pain in your knee. But kobe did play (still) in the fourth quarter. And again maybe, few of us would call that a “heart for the team”

  21. JaySmooth92 says:

It’s sad to see one of the all time greats go through the stretch of bad luck he has had lately. This is a tough blow for the Organization and Laker fans world wide. I strongly believe Kobe should just sit for the remainder of the season, rest, and be back to FULL Mamba mode for the last two years of his career. If I was in his shoes that’s exactly what I would do, I mean lets face it; The Lakers are not going to accomplish anything this year. Kobe Bryant is playing with an older Pau Gasol, and the role players are horrible and inconsistent. Sit this season out, make some good moves during the off-season and give it ONE last shot at winning the 6th chip to tie his Idol MJ,

  22. Ryan says:

Kobe should really just take this season off and give these guys a season to develop and get chemistry because come next season we will have more pieces. I just think he has two years after this and i know how competitive he is and nobody wants to come to grips with leaving the game you love so much but he needs time to rest and get back in top notch shape in order to come back for the last two years of his career stronger and go out on top.

  23. Nik says:

“I don’t measure a man’s success by how high he climbs but how high he bounces when he hits bottom”

  24. NBA Lover says:

You do realize that 6 weeks is right at the All-star break right? I’m a heat fan and I know that Kobe is far from done. Small injury for a Big time player. as a competitor I understand why Kobe keeps fighting back.To prove that he can and you can’t tell him he can’t. I respect real players like him. Get well soon Kobe. The Game still needs you!

  25. Lebanese man says:

I’m Lebron james fan. I’m very very very sad for his injury again again.

I still dream that the Final NBA between Lebron James and Kobe Bryant :(

  26. Lebanese man says:

as well as. Kobe Bryant won’t meet Miami heat during Christmas day :)

  28. ok heat THREE PEAT IS THE BIGGEST IDIOT EVER KOBE JUST RETIRE??????? WHAT ARE U SAY U TOOL GET A LIFE AND STOP THINKING YOUR COOL BECAUSE U STOOD UP FOR URSELF ONLINE GEEZ

  29. #time2retire says:

Kobe get well, the nba needs you!
your fans are out here crying that ur gone now, they need you too.
5 rings yes… 1 that was rigged ala Tim Donouphy.. search it if you dont know, either way 48 million for 2 years…. you might as well shot yourself in the foot, bad move, really bad move…

  30. kaipo808 says:

why is everyone commenting that kobe is done for because of his age and injuries. What about Derrick Rose, he missed all last year to let his injury heal and started playing this year and now injured again and could miss the rest of this year. It’s not about age and injuries that determines a player is done for, it is their choice of whether or not to call it quits. Black mamba will never call it quits because his determination and will to win each and every game and to get that 6th ring is a reminder to all that laker nation will rise again to the top, maybe not this year or the next, but we will get their and Kobe will get his 6th ring, 7th ring, and 8th ring.

  31. Mr Net Breaker says:

Kobe should retire now before he gets another more serious injury
it will continue to happen injury after injury
don’t believe me look at Nash
    what’s happening to him
    what happen to rose
    in the end
    Kobe will finish
    beaten and broken
    ironic his own words

  32. Ballers4life says:

Man, i was looking forward lebron and kobe going head to head on Christmas Day. Im a heat fan but not hatin anyone. I just want to watch two stars play a competetive game.

  33. LakerFan4life says:

Kobe is nearing the end of his career, that’s obvious. Now the sharks smell blood, and all the haters are going to come out of their closets. They’re going to speak as if they are all knowing, and rip the Mamba apart, verbally. But what those sharks ignore are the stone cold facts. Kobe has 5 rings, yes. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, though. Some fool below commented on Shaq not wanting to play with him. The big man has openly admitted, his entire career, that Kobe is and always will be the man. They clashed, but they won, and were the most potent duo in the modern NBA. So many players have spoken about how great the man is, and some of them admitted to not liking the guy (like Chuck). As for the rest of the current roster. I’m sure they’re on the fence. Kobe is Kobe, so no they don’t want him hurt. But no Kobe allows us to see Nick Young, Xavier Henry, and Wes Johnson a lot more. All 3 of whom show great potential. So go ahead, and kick Kobe while he’s down. Maybe he’ll come back with full force, or maybe he’ll downshift, and settle for still better than average. Imho, Kobe can slow down, and still be in the top rung of the NBA. MJ fizzled, but we all still love #23, don’t we?

  34. Gajan says:

Going to miss all the James vs Kobe debates.
