The slam dunk has steadily evolved from a conservative finish into one of the most expressive languages on the basketball court. Even during this season, we’ve witnessed a sort of rebirth of the alley-oop.

The same can be said about the Slam Dunk Contest. From its humble ABA beginnings in1976 to becoming one of the biggest showcases of All-Star weekend, its significance has grown to epic proportions.

    The problem with the dunk contest is there is nothing left to see. We’ve seen it all before and it was done better. Seeing a guy jump over a car just to get a spokesmen deal just doesn’t cut it, we’ve reach the limits of the human body, and every year somebody says O’ I got dunks you’ve never seen, it’s either the same as it ever was or they can’t pull it off…

    J.R. Smith’s behind-the-back dunk is one of the greatest of all time. It is incredibly underrated.

    Worst dunk Contest ever i feel sorry for watchin it its supposed to be a dunk contest for a reason not a team contest the skills challenge was ok but why would they change the dunk contest thats just stupid smh pathetic

    darvin ham should be on that list…his 360-tap the backboard dunk in 1997 was a great dunk. kobe won it that year, but ham definitely got robbed…
