Welcome to Throwback Thursday here on the All Ball Blog. Each week, we’ll delve into the NBA’s photo archives and uncover a topic and some great images from way back when. Hit us up here if you have suggestions for a future TBT on All Ball. Suggestions are always welcome!

Today’s TBT topic: Allen Iverson

The Philadelphia 76ers are set to retire the No. 3 jersey of Allen Iverson during halftime of Saturday’s game against the Washington Wizards (7:30 p.m. ET, NBA TV).

To honor Iverson’s transcendent career, we’ve created a gallery of the major moments from his 14 seasons in the NBA.

  1. Byrd says:

One of the best scoring guard to play the game….cross em up 🙂

    • lbj says:

how about throback thursday to our king “LeBron” much interesting rather a person never ever win a championship!

      • Jay says:

i am a Lebron fan but that is just disrepectful AI is one of the all-time greats and just like when Lebron played in Cleveland his supporting cast was awful thats why he never won a championship but he still made it to the finals with a terrible team. And to call AI not interesting is completely idiotic and shows just how little you know about basketball, and a true Lebron fan would never make fun of another player and base their greatness from championships becuase Lebon has been critized fo not winning championship for so many years.

      • Michael says:

LeBron who? If LeBron plays in the same era as Iverson during their peaks, we all know who wins. And of course you don’t.

    • Kate Upton says:

AI is 6’0″, LeBron is 6’8″. He brought Philly to the Finals with no help from any superstar. LeBron’s Cavs was swept by the Spurs back then, Philly took a 1-0 lead vs the Lakers in the Finals. LeBron is a champ, with the help of two Superstars.
      ( o )( o )

      • $3an says:

AI didn’t have a supporting cast? C. WEBBER and A. IGUODALA??

      • cornrows says:

Webber and Iggy? do you know what you are talking about dude? 2001- He’s just with eric snow, mckie, and mutumbo.. know your history my friend before you talk. plus when c-webb joined the 76ers, he’s already past his prime..Iggy was still a rookie.. so shut the F up

      • That Guy says:

$3an: Iguodala wasn’t with AI when he went to the finals.

  2. devinn says:

  10. Kris says:

He is the best pg off all time … HE CHANGE THE GAME ! If it wasn’t for him there will not be no Cp3’s no Wade’s no non of the player that have looked up on him , the league wasn’t gonna be the same without him … So that’s where ranks in the all time NBA existence .

  11. MR.SUAVE says:

for me hes the top 2 PG that ever played! of course theres someone whos called
“MAGIC” but AI brings NBA to another level! putting in NBA i wish his talents will be
reincarnated to someone and else and play again in NBA!
yeah theres one UNCLE DREW! cross em up! let them lay on the floor!

  12. BKing says:

  13. mariodub9 says:

the finals against the lakers game 1, when he nailed a 3 next to the lakers bench that was the turning point of the game when he steped between lu who was at the floor “trying” to cover him. He had all the talent of the world

  14. Brasil says:

Do a Penny Hardaway throwback!that would be great

  15. STUPID $3an says:

your comment just shows how a basketball noob you are, you don’t even use google to look up nba history..
C.WEB wasn’t part of the 76ers back when they faced the lakers in the finals and ANDREI IGUODALA wasn’t even drafted yet.. please use your internet wisely.. JUST SAYING.

  16. Sue Fraser says:

Allen Iverson always came ready to play, and left it all on the court. Never saw him give up on his team mates, or the game. He played with more heart, than the average player in the league today. Pound for pound one of the greatest to ever play the game. He will always be remembered, and respected for his contribution to the sport.

  17. 2K AllDay says:

His dad must be a dealer because he is plain Dope!!

  18. Max Rebo says:

Absolute baller…shame the comeback never happened

  19. DB says:

Top player! My personal favourite! Scoring and drible machine! Fast as lightning! The game misses him!

  20. The joker says:, i would like a video that shows the NBA players who played with and against Allen Iverson telling their thoughts about The Answer. I wish you could make it happen, getting respect from one’s peers and competitors is probably the greatest honor anyone could get.

  21. That guy says:

Man the NBA hasn`t had all that great offensive players since 2009 season… Hell even a decaying Dirk was good enough offensively in our no-defence ppor offence to win a champ.
