Kobe Launches Kobe, Inc.

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — What do you do when an injury keeps you from playing basketball? If you’re Kobe Bryant, you turn your full attention off the court and get a head start on a post-playing career in business.

As Kobe told ESPN over the weekend, he recently founded “Kobe, Inc.”

“I have always had ideas and always had a vision of where I wanted to go going back to 2000, but they are just ideas,” Bryant said. “Now, once the Achilles injury took place, I’m sitting at home for months not moving, a couple things set in. One is that there is only so many Modern Family episodes a person can watch. And then two, what do I do now?”

Bryant said he then put pen to paper and began executing his vision, which included a mission statement.

“We want to own and help grow brands and ideas that challenge and redefine the sports industry while inspiring,” Bryant said. “If it doesn’t have the limbs of the sports industry, which I understand extremely well, then I probably won’t touch it.”

Going forward, Kobe said, instead of endorsing products he wants to take ownership and use his name and experience to help run the businesses and make them successful.

His first endeavor? A sports drink called Body Armor. Kobe took to his millions of social media followers this weekend to help spread the word, writing, “I believe in innovation that will help athletes train and perform at their best. Finally we have a product that is THE UPGRADE athletes have been silently demanding for years! @drinkbodyarmor #entrepreneur #TasteRevolution #UpgradeYourSportsDrink”

Launching Kobe Inc or Mamba or Mambo Inc won’t give you your 6th ring to tie with the 2nd greatest of all time next to our “king” LeBron. You need to play with Miami and take a minimum pay cut or minimum veterans pay since you’re already too old and got injured. We trade young players to Lakers for future developtment such Douglas and Mason JR

hahahahahaahha comments like this make my day

    • Chick Hearn Jr. says:

Firstly, why do people continue to compare 5 Ring Champion Kobe Bryant with 2 ring and a prayer champ LBJ. He is nobody’s King but yours. Lebron is a great talent and his days will come but as all future stars, you dont’ compare him with history unless you want to compare his greatness. When measuring greatness, you must have a great scale and that scale is Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and now possibly Lebron James. You would not measure Pooh Richardson against Scottie Pippen nor would you compare Karl Malone to David West. Different level of players and you can only compare greatness to greatness. MY POINT – KOBE IS STILL the greatest next to MJ…period!!

      You’re such a great troll/jock rider.

    • Lakeshow says:

If east is strong like west, Miami and KING James wont even make to second round iof playoffs with the mediore defense they are playing currently.

    • Nope says:

You need Kobe to win a ring. But too bad he’s loyal.

    • asdfgg says:

Lebron must be paying you to comment on article. How much is what I want to know.

    • DjMamba says:

      lol you wish.

    • Jacque says:

      you’re an idiot

    • bart says:

Talking about Lebron and the game when the topic is off the game won’t contribute to this discussion as well.

    • Dalton says:

Looooooooooool. Shush up. LeBron is not #1. Hop off his jewels

    • Thestarmiddleschooler says:

I like how much of a real heat fan he is, he doesn’t even know mason jr is on kings.

    • matricsneo says:

“Launching Kobe Inc or Mamba or Mambo Inc won’t give you your 6th ring to tie with the 2nd greatest of all time next to our “king” LeBron.” – this line surely made my day… It doesn’t make any sense.. Is he insinuating that LBJ has more rings than Mamba?.. I still think this post is a troll because no one is this stupid….

    • Caleb says:

i just looked at every article written by nba.com in the past 2 weeks and i have only found 3 that you have not posted your, ”
come to miami and win a ring and play with “King” james”

  2. anthony says:

why would Kobe want to help Lebron win a ring? it defeats all kind of purposes in basketball if Kobe plays on the same team as Lebron. Lebron will help Kobe set a higher mark for Lebron and Kobe will help Lebron catch up to MJ. It’s like Dwade and Lebron right now, Dwade will always have more rings than Lebron as long as he’s on the same team.

  3. Polak from Poland says:

Douglas was future developement in Knicks, as Mason Jr in Wizards…now they are bench warmers. so…what r u sayin’?

  4. Jack says:

Lebron is not the 2nd greatest of all time. Lebron only has 2 rings ok?

  5. mapatan says:

I don’t agree you. You seem to be jealous. Kobe’s contract goes with his talents. Get over it. L applaud him for going into business venture. Many players end up poor. Kobe thumps up.

  6. Gabriel says:

Oh god here we go, the LBJ fan boys all come to unite to fight against Kobe and the stuff that he makes. Just leave it alone and stop talking about LeFlop James as if he is god

  7. #neverleavehome says:

Some things are more important than winning rings. One of those things would be pride. Something LBJ will never understand.

  8. blink says:

hey lbj! robert horry has more rings than mj…

  9. joshua riley13102 says:

    five beats t0o

  10. boobies says:

3 top players of all time

and people say Lebron is? He still is not even past Magic, Bird or Kobe Bean mother fudders

  11. sports fan says:

I will be the first to actually comment on Kobe, Inc. because everyone else here has forgotten what the article is about. I think Kobe should brand his own Kobe beef and that should be his very first product.

  12. Rhedz says:

The idea for a sports drink is really good…the thing is that when people in the sports world hears this proucts name “body armor” they will get this impression that this drink is somehow connected to the brand under armor. Its not of a big deal…but kobe could have come up with a better name…say 24k drink, body venom or 8-24-5 booster….well, kobe could just buy his shoe contract and make it his own. His name is big enough…so it will work like what jordan did…jordan brand.

  13. GoGSW says:

Why did Kobe do that?Probably because he wanted to be more famous.

  14. lbj says:

lbj is my king forever and he will reign kobes and mjs throne, bcuz he is the true king in nba kingdom, nuff said, dude is the greatest thing since sliced bread. kobe is nowhere near lbj the KING
