Charlotte Hornets unveil new court

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — They have a new nickname, new logo, new uniforms and a new (old) mascot — it only makes sense that they have a new court as well. Today the Charlotte Hornets dropped the above video showing off their new floor, which features the iconic Hornet hovering at midcourt, as well as a honeycomb pattern that covers the entire Time Warner Cable Arena floor. Maybe now we call the arena the Honeycomb Hideout?

Hornets.com has a cool gallery here of some of the new digs, but here’s a good look at it from the corners:

  4. Kome the Black Dumba says:

The Hive! It was good times with Zo, Larry, Muggsy and Dell !

  5. tzvi jacobs says:

i liked it and all-but seriously, isn’t it a little dramatic for the presentation of a court?

Needs some orange. like on the ball

  7. Tyler C says:

I like The Hive or even The Hornet’s Nest

  8. lakerslakerslakers says:

love it, it’s a shame another team had to become pelicans for this to happen

I’m glad the Buzz is back however the honeycombs are a bit dramatic. Hornets aren’t exactly known for making honey. That being said I prefer the HIVE over any other arena nickname, especially “honeycomb hideout”. That sounds like clubhouse name I would have made with friends in the 3rd grade.

  10. Glen Rice fan says:

It’s nice but the name of the arena “Time Warner Cable” kinda ruins it.

Nice job! Congrats to MN and the hornets brings me back to the hornets elite years will be going to some games soon, not to mention the noah vonleh pickup in draft hopefully more free agents to come. Michael’s brilliance is becoming evident!!

    The Hive!

  16. Michael says:

I HOPE THE UNIFORMS LOOK JUST AS AWSOME IF NOT BETTER THAN THE COURT ITSELF
BUT FOR NEW ORLEANS SAKE; THE PAILICANS?! THAT SHOULD BE CHANGED TO THE COUGARS OR TITANS
SOMETHING MORE APPEALING THAN A BIG BIRD WITH A BIGGER BEAK!
BUT FOR CHARLOTTES END, THANKS FOR THE REVIAL OF THE HORNETS AND NOT TO SOUND CRITICAL
BUT BACK IN 1996 YOU TRADED THE DIRECT CLONE OF MJ TO THE LA LAKERS SEE IF YOU CAN GET KOBE BACK WITH HIS OLD HIGH SCHOOL NUMBER (#33) FOR A TRUE REVIVAL OF THIS NEW SQUAD.
NOW THAT WOULD BE THE ICING ON THE CAKE WITH THE CHERRY ON TOP!

lol man as much as i loved the hornets, LJ, ZO and mugsy in 1996. kobe and the lakers now. i just don’t think i could see him in any uni other than the purple and gold. nothing else makes any sense. i’m excited for the NBA to have the charlotte hornets back though. some of the best years in the league! 1990s NBA were the best!

Great decision to give Charlotte its name back. But the Pelicans have got to go. Pick a name that represents New Orleans something like the New Orleans Gators.
