D-League guard gets summer league invite, has great reaction

ALL BALL NERVE CENTERKiwi Gardner is a 5-7 guard who spent last season playing in the D-League for the Santa Cruz Warriors, the affiliate for the Golden State Warriors. But it’s important to know a little of Gardner’s backstory: Gardner made a name for himself via Youtube mixtapes, then paid his own way to try out for the D-League and fought his way into a roster spot and became a fan favorite.

Yesterday, Santa Cruz GM Kirk Lacob broke the news to Gardner that he had earned a summer league roster spot with the Golden State Warriors. Gardner’s reaction? Priceless…

I’m so glad to see Kiwi Gardner to be selected by the Warriors. I’ve watched his videos on youtube and he definitely works hard. If the Warriors are looking for a backup point guard for Stephen Curry, they definitely need to pick this guy because he can make plays!!!!!

I’ve been watching Kiwi along with his brother Peewee Garder and Aquille Carr since Highschool and it’s really cool to see them playing in the D league. Good for Kiwi getting the summer league invite, still hoping one of these 5’6ish guys beats the odds and jumps up to the NBA.
