John Wall donates $400,000 to help homeless children

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — With a new season tipping off and players and teams getting back to business, how do you spend your last few days of free time?

If you’re Washington Wizards guard John Wall, you spend it giving back to others.

According to a Facebook post from Bright Beginnings, a Washington D.C.-based initiative that helps homeless children and families, they received a surprise visit and gift from Wall on Friday morning…

This morning, Washington Wizards point guard John Wall surprised our organization and BBI Executive Director Dr. Betty Jo Gaines with a generous donation of $400,000. This phenomenal contribution will significantly impact the development of Bright Beginnings’ second child development center at 3418 4th Street SE in Ward 8.

“Support from individuals like Mr. Wall, gives Bright Beginnings the encouragement to continue to provide comprehensive services for homeless children in the District of Columbia. It is evident that John Wall is sensitive and concerned about the plight of homeless children in DC and he wants these children to succeed.” – Bright Beginnings Executive Director, Dr. Betty Jo Gaines

Proudly displayed at the new BBI center will be the John Wall, Wall of Achievement, highlighting the everyday moments of greatness Bright Beginnings students accomplish, in addition to the legacies left behind by high school and college graduates who were once BBI toddlers and preschoolers. Bright Beginnings will also name a classroom in Mr. Wall’s honor. The new Bright Beginnings child development center is scheduled to open its doors in 2017.
