Chandler Parsons debuts sock collaboration with Stance

ALL BALL NERVE CENTERChandler Parsons has had an eventful few months, becoming one of the offseasons most coveted free agents with his move from Houston to Dallas. And apparently he’s been busy off the court, as well.

In the video below, Parsons discusses his newly minted partnership with Stance Socks, the brand NBA fans may know from their collaboration with Dwyane Wade. Parsons — an avowed sockaholic who says he actually plans his outfits around his socks — recently got a sock deal with Stance, and has a signature sock coming soon.

To that end, Parsons spent time with Stance recently to film a short flick about his love for Stance Hoops, the brand’s basketball collection. Here’s the world premiere of that video…

James Harden makes bold NBA Style choice

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — The Houston Rockets took on the Los Angeles Lakers last night on ESPN, and James Harden was not about to let the opportunity slide. With a nationally televised game against one of the NBA’s marquee franchises, on the same day as the debut of his hilarious Foot Locker commercial, Harden decided to show off his NBA Style with a bold sweatshirt.

And as often happens in matters of NBA Style, some people on Twitter were willing to share their opinions…

Russell Westbrook dressed to impress last night

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — First of all, let’s make one thing clear: Russell Westbrook was incredible last night. Leading a Thunder team riddled with injuries, Westbrook was nearly unstoppable, finishing with 38 points and 6 assists against Portland in a losing effort.

But that performance was a bit overshadowed by his style performance off the floor, including this Mylar jacket Westbrook wore to the game.

And as often happens, Twitter went in on Westbrook’s gear…

Iman Shumpert knows what time it is

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — #NBAStyle is still a thing, and New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert took it to new heights after last night’s Knicks preseason game. He’s wearing a baseball cap with what appears to be a clock installed on the front of the hat. Or maybe several clocks? Or a two clocks and a compass? It’s hard to tell exactly what the device is, other than it looks expensive and ornate and kinda cool.

Chris Douglas-Roberts is bringing short shorts back

John Stockton drives past Allen Iverson

ALL BALL NERVE CENTERJohn Stockton is one of the greatest point guards of all time, but one thing he is perhaps best known for is his fashion sense. While everyone around during the ’90s wore shorts that were longer and baggier than ever, Stockton seemed to go the other direction, wearing shorts that were, well, pretty short.

I asked Stockton about this last year…

ME: When you retired you said something about making sure your shorts were hemmed up high throughout your career. Were the short shorts a deliberate choice?

STOCKTON: My second-to-last year, I think — my seventeenth year — the equipment manager came up to me and said, “Would like to lengthen your shorts?” I really didn’t know that it was an option. I’d never asked, and they’d never asked me. So we just kind of kept plugging on. Everybody kept talking about my shorts and I thought, “Well, I didn’t change anything…”

ME: You didn’t maybe notice around you that the shorts were getting bigger and longer?

STOCKTON: Yeah, but I was comfortable with it. I also saw other guys with 34-inch waists get 40-inch shorts and then just cinch them, and that…that didn’t make any sense to me.

We bring all this up today because everything old eventually becomes new again. The Clippers recently signed free agent small forward Chris Douglas-Roberts, and as Roberts announced on Twitter, he has some plans to pay homage to a bygone era…

If nothing else, should make for an interesting #NBAStyle segment.

Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade each have their own tie brands

ALL BALL NERVE CENTERChris Bosh and Dwyane Wade may be teammates on the Miami Heat, but they’re competitors on store shelves.

About a year ago, Wade announced a collaboration with The Tie Bar, an online tie retailer. (And, fellas, a great place to get stuff for reasonable prices, FWIW.) Wade’s collection has regular ties, bow ties, pocket squares, even cuff links. Now about a year later, Chris Bosh is getting into the same game. Bosh has linked up with the company Armstrong & Wilson to launch a company called Mr. Nice Tie. Bosh’s brand isn’t as diverse as Wade’s, but it’s a bit higher-end.

Welcome @NBA to the official game ball

By Joe Boozell, NBA.com

Social media is changing the way media, businesses and sports operate at a rapid pace. That applies to the NBA as well, which has over 24 million likes on Facebook and also owns almost 11 million Twitter followers.

Eleven million for now, that is. This upcoming season, all Spalding NBA game balls will have the ‘@NBA’ Twitter handle imprinted on them. Take a look at the stylish new orange:

Russell Westbrook introduces line of sunglasses

Miami Heat v Oklahoma City Thunder ? Game One

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — A few years ago, I wrote a short profile of Oklahoma City guard Russell Westbrook for GQ magazine. At the time, Westbrook was just starting to make a name for himself off the court as a fearless dresser, a trend that has continued unabated.

As part of the interview I did with Russ, I asked him about his penchant for wearing glasses…

GQ: But you had to know those red glasses were going to get some attention.
Russell Westbrook: Well, see, I didn’t. I don’t really pay no mind to it. I kind of just see it, and I get it. If I like it, I’ll wear it regardless of what’s going on or if somebody says something or not.

GQ: When you wear those glasses, do they have lenses in them or no?
Russell Westbrook: No, no, nine times out of ten, no. Some of them do, but not most of them, no.

GQ: Do you need glasses?
Russell Westbrook: Nah. I have the best vision.

And now, regardless of your vision, you too can wear glasses just for the style of it, as Russell Westbrook has introduced his own line of sunglasses. Westbrook has started with ten different styles at Westbrook Frames. They are high quality, and prices run from $95 up.

Perhaps they are more fashion-forward than you’re used to, but maybe they’re exactly what you need to look good. As Westbrook himself might ask, “Why not?”

When Other People Wear Shaq’s Clothes

ALL BALL NERVE CENTERShaquille O’Neal is one of the largest human beings in the world, which means he wears some of the largest clothes in the world. So if you ever see some of Shaq’s clothes laying around, be sure to try them on and snap a photo, because it’s never not funny.

The most recent example of this comes from Sacramento, where Kings point guard Isaiah Thomas found a shirt belonging to Shaq — a Kings co-owner — laying around and tried it on.

Of course, this is just the most recent example of this phenomenon. Just a few weeks back, Shaq was a guest on the first week of Jimmy Fallon‘s new gig hosting the “Tonight Show.” And on that night, he let Fallon try on his jacket…

Going back a few more months, when Tracy McGrady was pulling a shift on NBA TV’s “GameTime” and he needed a suit, he thought he could pull off wearing one of Shaq’s suits that was sitting around the Turner studios…

And a few months before that, Reggie Miller was in the Turner studios and decided to give one of Shaq’s coats a try…

Russell Westbrook Continues NBA Style Exhibition

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Oklahoma City guard Russell Westbrook‘s injured knee not only kept him off the court the first few games of the season, it kept him from being a full participant in the NBA Style wars that have been ongoing for years now. Sure, he was able to participate in New York Fashion Week, but that’s nothing compared to what happens when NBA teams walk from their bus to their locker room and are caught on camera.

But now Westbrook is back and healthy, and not only is he throwing down coast-to-coast dunks, but a sure sign that he’s back is that he’s breaking out collarless zebra print zip-up jackets as part of his pregame wardrobe…
