Bryce Cotton can jump through the roof

VIDEO: Cotton alley-oop

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Late in the regular season, the Utah Jazz picked up point guard Bryce Cotton, who ended up playing 15 games and was rewarded with a long-term extension. His most memorable moment, however, may have been the play above, where Cotton skied to catch an alley-oop over the Dallas Mavericks.

Even though the Jazz season is done, Cotton has continued putting in work. And as we see in the clip below, while working out at P3 Sports Science, Cotton showed off a 45-inch vertical leap, besting Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine‘s 44-inch leaps.

Timberwolves prepare for big return of…Mike Miller?

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — The biggest move this offseason for the Minnesota Timberwolves was trading away Kevin Love to Cleveland. It was a deal that worked out well for everyone: Love got to go play for a contender, while the T-Wolves were able to re-boot the franchise and add draft picks and young talent like Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett. This Saturday, Kevin Love returns to Minnesota for the first time since the trade. So the Timberwolves released this video preparing fans for the big matchup and the return to town of…wait, Mike Miller?

Thaddeus Young invents new form of rookie hazing for Andrew Wiggins

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — We’ve officially reached that time in the season when the players are ready for a vacation and can’t wait for the All-Star break. So how do they deal with that ennui? For some veterans, it seems like this is when they start picking on the rookies, from Philadelphia all the way to Los Angeles.

But it’s not just on the coasts. Check out this video from the last night’s postgame interview session in Minnesota, where the T-Wolves beat the Celtics 110-98. When it was Andrew Wiggins‘ time to talk, veteran forward Thaddeus Young couldn’t let him go unscathed…

Andrew Wiggins has his dream job

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Sometimes old school yearbooks contain photos or information we’d rather forget than recall. But yesterday on Reddit, someone uncovered a middle school yearbook that contained an old class photo of Minnesota rookie Andrew Wiggins, and even way back then, Wiggins had a clear idea of what he wanted to do for a living when he grew up. Guess some dreams do come true…

Minnesota Timberwolves 90210

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — A year ago we saw a Minnesota Timberwolves video made a group of Spanish T-Wolves fans that mixed together the theme from “Cheers” with shots of the Wolves. This season, to celebrate the new start in Minnesota, the same fans have re-cut the opening credits of the seminal ’90s series “Beverly Hills 90210” using members of the Timberwolves. It’s brilliantly done, although I have to admit I was hoping for Flip Saunders to pop up in the Joe E. Tata slot at the end of the credits.

Wiggins and LaVine to go by “Bounce Brothers”

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — These days it’s nearly as important to have a cool nickname as it is to actually have great production on the court. Kobe is the Mamba, LeBron is the King, and in Golden State we have the Splash Brothers. And with Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine teaming up this season in Minnesota, it was clear they were going to need a nickname as well, since they’re all about the highlight plays. But before waiting for someone to give them a nickname they may or may not have liked, they decided to take things into their own hands and give themselves a moniker they could roll with: The Bounce Brothers.

Someone (Underdog?) put that on a t-shirt…

NBA People Throwing First Pitches (Pt. 2)

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — All summer long, we’ve seen NBA players throwing out the ceremonial first pitches at baseball games. Not just major league games, and not just from active NBA players, but from NBA-related folks (coaches, retired players) all over the place.

I’ve been collecting these videos for a few months, and now we present them, all of them, in several parts, because there’s a lot to get through.

And so, here are a bunch of NBA people throwing out the first pitch at baseball games…

PART ONE | PART TWO | PART THREE

ZACH LAVINE
Timberwolves rookie Zach LaVine threw out the first pitch at a Twins game before they played his (former) favorite team, the Angels. I like how fired up he is after meeting Mike Trout

ANDREW WIGGINS
Staying in Minnesota, just last night, Andrew Wiggins took the hill to give it a shot. Have to say, I think he threw a strike…

Andrew Wiggins discovers just how small airplane bathrooms are

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Airplanes, relative to most things in the world, are small. And the airplane bathrooms are scaled down even smaller, as number one draft pick Andrew Wiggins discovered. As Wiggins wrote, “Clearly these plane bathrooms aren’t made for anyone 6ft or tallerđŸ˜’”

Jeremy Evans can still jump out of the gym

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — A few months ago, a photo circulated of Utah Jazz forward (and former Slam Dunk Contest champ) Jeremy Evans showing off his incredible vertical leap in an effort to top the vertical leap recorded by number one draft pick Andrew Wiggins.

Evans may have taken the crown, but apparently that wasn’t enough. Evans had previously been able to touch 12 feet, 8.5 inches. Yesterday he topped that, touching 12 feet, 9 inches…

The Timberwolves go to the State Fair

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — It’s been a big week for the Minnesota Timberwolves, who officially completed the Kevin Love trade and have effectively re-made their roster, adding a few new players. To celebrate the new additions, the Wolves had Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, Thaddeus Young and Zach LaVine in Minnesota to meet the fans at a big rally downtown.

And then? The guys went to the Minnesota State Fair, because why not? The State Fair apparently has a lot of fun stuff to do, particularly if you’re a member of the T-Wolves.

What to do at the State Fair? Well, you pose with your head behind the board at the cheese on a stick sign…

You eat some donuts and rate them as “fire”…

You throw water balloons into a bucket on a dude’s head…

You go head-first down a gigantic slide…

You eat a corn dog…

Bennett definitely enjoyed himself…

After all that? You take your prizes and go home…
