Jeremy Lin does his best Michael Jordan shrug

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — One of the most iconic moments in NBA history came during the 1992 NBA Finals, when Michael Jordan opened the festivities with 6 three-pointers during the first half of Game 1. After making a couple of shots, Jordan knocked down a three over Blazers’ forward Cliff Robinson and had no response remaining other than just to shrug…

Fast-forward to last night in Charlotte, where Hornets guard Jeremy Lin had to force a three-pointer against the Miami Heat with the shot clock running down. His shot went in, off the glass. How do you respond to something like that? Lin looked to the sideline, where Hornets owner Michael Jordan himself was sitting, and broke out his best MJ imitation…

The NBA reacts to the NCAA championship game

VIDEO: Jenkins shot

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Last night’s NCAA Championship game between North Carolina and Villanova came down to a game-winning buzzer beater by Villanova’s Kris Jenkins, just seconds after an incredible game-tying three from UNC’s Marcus Paige. With the NBA taking a final night off before the sprint to the playoffs, plenty of NBA players tuned in to the big finale and reacted on social media…

Nelly helps Hornets celebrate win over Spurs

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — The Golden State Warriors have been one of the best teams in the NBA this season, and earned a lot of headlines for their terrific play, but right there on their heels all season have been the San Antonio Spurs, who entered last night’s game against the Hornets with a 59-10 record. But the Hornets showed they while may have been down, they were not out, coming back from a 23-point deficit to beat the Spurs, 91-88, thanks in large part to 29 points from Jeremy Lin. And during Lin’s postgame interview, who better to deliver the postgame photobomb than Hornets minority partner, the rapper Nelly?

Frank Kaminsky has caught March Madness

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — This time one year ago, Frank Kaminsky was an important member of the Wisconsin men’s basketball team that was in the process of winning their way to a NCAA Championship Game appearance. These days, of course, Kaminsky plays in the NBA for the Charlotte Hornets, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t still follow the Badgers. Last night, Wisconsin qualified for a trip to the Sweet 16 with a last-second buzzer beater against Xavier. Luckily, someone had a camera on Kaminsky as the shot went up…and in!

Charlotte Hornets celebrate Nickelodeon night

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Last night the Charlotte Hornets hosted the Phoenix Suns and came away with a decisive 126-92 win. Coincidentally, or maybe it was no coincidence, last night the Hornets hosted Nickelodeon night, a celebration of the TV network so many kids in America grew up watching.

The Rugrats were there, in person and on the gear…

Kel Mitchell (from “Keenan and Kel” fame) was there as the evening’s host…

Halftime featured a Double Dare competition…

Jeremy Lin got slimed…

And he wasn’t the only one…

Maybe Frank Kaminsky looks like a Craig

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — You know how when you go to Starbucks, they ask for your name and then write your name on the side of the cup so you can find your drink once it’s ready? Over the weekend, Charlotte Hornets forward Frank Kaminsky went to Starbucks, placed his order, and either picked up the wrong order or got a barista who wasn’t sure how to spell “Frank”…

POSTERIZED POLL Week of Jan. 22

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Like we always do at this time, let’s take a look at the best instances of people getting #POSTERIZED over the last week and, at the bottom of the post, you can place your vote for a winner. And don’t forget, if you see someone get posterized, tweet it with the hashtag #POSTERIZED so we don’t miss it!

Let’s get right to it this week. Special shoutout to last week’s winner, Toronto’s DeMar DeRozan!

OK, let’s get to the POSTERS…so many entrants this week, perhaps our strongest poll yet from top to bottom, including a special double dose of the great Boban Marjanovic(more…)

Stephen Curry starred in Burger King ad as a kid

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — These days, Stephen Curry is one of the NBA’s biggest stars, and whatever he does off the court draws attention and eyeballs. Two decades ago? Not so much. Someone recently uncovered an old advertisement for Burger King which starred former Hornets guard Dell Curry. Back when this originally aired, his co-star at the time wasn’t such a big deal. In retrospect, that co-star turned out to be a kinda big deal: Stephen Curry.

Boban Marjanovic is huge

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — San Antonio Spurs rookie Boban Marjanovic is obviously a big man. A native of Serbia, Boban plays center, stands 7-3, weighs almost 300 pounds, and has a 7-8 wingspan. And while he has only played sporadically thus far this season, Boban has made an impact in the games where he has played, perhaps never more so than on Monday night when he came off the bench to score 17 points in 15 minutes against the Timberwolves. (According to this article, he also won a jump ball without jumping.) As Spurs forward David West said after the game, “I think people look at his size and sort of think he’s a big stiff, but Boban’s a hell of a player.”

But what has really set the internet abuzz the last 24 hours has been the postgame interview Boban did with Spurs sideline reporter Andrew Monaco. It’s a great couple of minutes, and Boban seems like a genuinely funny and personable teammate. If you want to watch the entire interview, click here. But the incredible part comes at the end when Boban gives Monaco a handshake, and Monaco’s hands basically disappear…

One other clip that really puts Boban’s size in perspective: Earlier this season against the Charlotte Hornets, Boban checked in at the end of a game and lined up next to Tyler Hansbrough, who is listed at 6-9. But standing next to Boban, he looks like a child…

Michael Jordan pays tribute to Kobe Bryant

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — The Kobe Bryant farewell tour rolled into Charlotte last night, the city that originally drafted Kobe before trading him to the Lakers. Today the Hornets are owned by Michael Jordan, the man who influenced Kobe both on and off the court. And while Jordan was unable to be in attendance at the game last night, he recorded the following video tribute to Kobe that was played on the scoreboard before the game.

As Kobe said after the game, he fully enjoyed the video

“It was awesome. It was awesome,” Bryant said. “He and I — as he said in the video — we talk pretty often. But it was pretty funny to see some of the reactions of my teammates. I was sitting next to Julius Randle before the game. He was like, ‘Yo, that’s amazing!’ I was like, ‘What?’ [He said] ‘That was Michael Jordan!'”

Bryant added, “We talk fairly often. I know he’s enjoying a little vacation time. I told him I was a little jealous. He said, ‘You’ll be here soon enough.'”

Also, Nick Young had an appropriately swaggy take on the tribute…
