NBA training camps have convened, exhibition games are underway, and we all know what that means: The return of MUSCLEWATCH.

Before we get to the muscles, what, you may ask, is MUSCLEWATCH? Basically, it began decades ago when my friend Matt and I noticed our local paper would always report that players had gained 15 pounds of MUSCLE in the off-season. No matter the sport, it was never 12 pounds, never 16, never 9, never 18, but it always seemed to be “15 pounds of muscle.” So we began keeping an eye on the papers looking for references to the magic 15 pounds of MUSCLE. Eventually, MUSCLEWATCH became about more than just the “15 pounds of muscle” and more about guys who had either gained or lost a lot of weight. Previous winners include Thaddeus Young and Rudy Gay.

And remember, MUSCLEWATCH cannot be successful without your help. The most effective way to let us here at MUSCLEWATCH HQ know if you see any MUSCLEWATCH news is to tweet and use the hashtag #MUSCLEWATCH.

Also, for what it’s worth, we need numbers. If you’re going to be vague, that’s not MUSCLEWATCH. I’m talking to you, Bulls GM Gar Forman

Hey. we’re all glad Derrick Rose “looks terrific,” but if you want to play MUSCLEWATCH, we need actual digits.

Now, let’s get swole …

Indiana Pacers Innovate With Water-And-Dance-Based Videobomb

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — We’ve seen the Miami Heat do all kinds of videobombing throughout this season, from the classic Chris Bosh step-in to the Dwyane Wade cartwheel. But now the Heat’s biggest Eastern Conference on-court rivals, the Indiana Pacers, are giving the Heat a run for their money off the court as well with a new videobomb that involves George Hill peering through an arm and Lance Stephenson pouring water on Ian Mahinmi and then celebrating with a shimmy.

Last night in a … streak

by Micah Hart

Any time you get to a 10-game winning streak you have to be pleased, but I feel like Dallas got particular enjoyment out of last night’s 105-100 win over Golden State. I know it’s been a few years now, but if I were a Mavs fan, I’d still relish any victory over the team that beat them as an eight-seed in the 2007 playoffs. The usual stars were out for the Mavericks in this one, with Dirk Nowitzki scoring 25, Caron Butler getting 19, and Jason Terry popping for 20 off the bench, but upon closer inspection you’ll find the first career double-double for former Spurs big man Ian Mahinmi, who finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. San Antonio is going to have to stop handing off foreign big men to their rivals at some point. Unless they want to give Tiago Splitter to the Hawks, then I’m interested.

That’s now two Texas-based franchises with 10+ game winning streaks this season, by the way. Houston, you are on the clock.
