Metta World Peace Filming Lifetime Movie in Vancouver

by Micah Hart

Remember a few days back we brought your attention to the fact that Metta World Peace was doing the weather at a local Vancouver TV station? Well it turns out MWP is in Vancouver for a totally legitimate reason, and not just because he up and decided to run up there to remind people to use raincoats. Not that anyone I know thought that was the case or anything.

World Peace’s reason for being in the Canadian Rockies is like occam’s razor — it’s the most obvious one. He’s there to film an adaptation of Nancy Grace‘s (!) novel The Eleventh Victim, in which he’ll play a standup comedian detective.

Via TV Guide by way of SLAM:

Peace will set down his basketball to play Garlan Fincher, a Georgia detective who works very closely with Atlanta Assistant District Attorney Hailey Dean, played by Beverly Hills, 90210 vet Jennie Garth.

The southern accent is perhaps the easiest one to fake in the United States, though if it’s set here in the transient-filled city of Atlanta he can get away with any accent he wants.

World Peace has a little acting experience after his cameo in the recent film Think Like A Man. However, if he has any questions about how to translate his talents to the small screen, I imagine Garth can show him the ropes, as she has appeared in the last 137 Lifetime movies*.
