McCollum, Plumlee celebrate March Madness

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — If you’re a college basketball fan, today is your Christmas, or at least part one of your Christmas. Today is the first full day of March Madness with dozens of games on live all day long. You can not only see which teams are ready and prepped for the college hoops marathon, but also which players are ready to make a splash in the NBA.

For instance, back in 2012, one of the great upsets in NCAA Tournament history occured when C.J. McCollum and his Lehigh team, which was a 15-seed, beat a 2-seed Duke team featuring McCollum’s current teammate Mason Plumlee.

McCollum responded with a note of affirmation, tagging his teammate Mason Plumlee…

Taking the debate offline, Plumlee sent a picture to McCollum reminding him that a few years earlier, he won a championship with Duke…

POSTERIZED POLL Week of Nov. 17

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Like we always do at this time, let’s take a look at the best instances of people getting #POSTERIZED over the last week and, at the bottom of the post, place your vote for a winner. And remember, if you see someone get posterized, tweet it with the hashtag #POSTERIZED so we don’t miss it!

Finally, congratulations to last week’s winner, Andrew Wiggins!

Now, let’s go to the posters!

POSTERIZED: Wiggins, Porzingis make their cases

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER β€” As part of our ongoing attempts to chronicle every time someone in the NBA gets POSTERIZED, in order to have a most perfect Posterized Poll when that time comes, I’m doing my best to keep up with every posterization happening throughout the season.

Last night there were a couple of nice entrants in our contest. But before we get to that, one bit of business to attend to: In my post yesterday, I posited that dunks over someone’s back shouldn’t count as being posterized — to me, being posterized means being chest-to-chest with the dunker and still getting dunked on.

HOWEVA, after discussing this last night at the Bucks/Nets game with my main man Ohm Youngmisuk from ESPN, I believe I have changed my mind. Sure, someone getting dunked on chest-to-chest is generally more spectacular, but you can still make a poster out of someone getting dunked on over their back. So, going forward, anyone getting dunked on is fair game for POSTERIZED.

To the dunks! First, one day after Avery Bradley sort of dunked on LaMarcus Aldridge, Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis definitely dunked over LA…

Also, up in Minnesota, Andrew Wiggins went baseline and dunked in between Mason Plumlee and Meyers Leonard. (And nice dish from Ricky Rubio, too.)

Watch your drinks around Mason Plumlee

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Just a few weeks ago we saw Denver’s Randy Foye head into the crowd and take what appeared to be two drinks with him. Well, Nets big man Mason Plumlee outdid Foye this weekend in Washington D.C., when he decelerated into a courtside server and took out what appeared to be five adult beverages, sending them all over a few folks in the front row. There are so many interesting things about this video: the final, fatal shove by Plumlee to the server; Plumlee’s raised arms reaction; the dude in the crowd a few rows back wearing the Wizards jersey who stands and howls; the guy in the front row wearing white who reaches as if to help, then just drops his arms, defeated. And the poor couple who got drenched — there are empty seats on either side of them, and of course it happens right on top of them.

Clippers Cap Sunday’s Bona Fide Jam Fest

Every night, the NBA yields a jaw-dropping play, or 10. But certain nights give you more. With “only” eight games on Sunday’s slate, the leapers — particularly in Brooklyn — loosened their limbs and decided to occupy more space on the Dunk HQ and Top Plays Theater. From All-Stars to bench warmers to the guys in L.A., many hoopers around the Association ascended high and crashed hard:

Brooklyn Nets Vs. Arsenal In HORSE

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — With the Nets and Hawks in England, it only made sense to set up a basketball vs. football match-up. (And by “football,” I mean “soccer.”) So Nets coach Jason Kidd and center Mason PLumlee squared off against Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski and Lukasz Fabianski in a game of HORSE. Neither Kidd nor Plumlee are/were particularly known for their shooting, so perhaps the result of this game shouldn’t be too much of a surprise.
