The Mike Woodson Reaction Reel

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — To me, the most underrated part of the Shaqtin’ A Fool videos each week are the reaction shots of the coaches on the sidelines, slackjawed and in disbelief, as their players repeatedly fail to execute. If any coach has had reason to look incredulous over and over this season, it’s probably Knicks coach Mike Woodson. Last season the Knicks fought their way to a 54-win campaign. This season they’re on pace to win about 26. And if you’re looking for an indicator that nothing can go the right way, just check out this lengthy supercut from the folks at Oakley and Allen of how Mike Woodson’s season has gone thus far. Mike Woodson Has Some Thoughts About Your Style

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Here at the All Ball blog, we have hopefully established how much we like Knicks coach Mike Woodson. It’s not just his goatee — our respect extends to all things Woodson. As a Hawks fan, I spent much of the last ten years watching Woody work, as he turned the Hawks from pretenders to consistent Playoff performers. While I was writing for SLAM, I once did a story in which Woodson allowed me to embed with his team for a few days. He allowed me complete and unfettered access, with only one rule: I had to adhere to the NBA dress code at all times. I readily agreed — this seemed a small price to pay to see how an NBA team works.

Now that Woodson is on the NBA’s biggest stage, coaching the Knicks at Madison Square Garden, he has been exposed to a larger audience. Knicks fans seem to like him, and now he is willing to share with the rest of us his thoughts on fashion and style, brought to you by Sean John.

So let’s slip into this luxury automobile, listen to some smooth jazz, and escape to a classy black-and-white rendition of Manhattan with Coach Mike Woodson, as he explains what makes fashion fashionable.

As Woody says, “You can’t trick…the New York people about fashion.”

Knicks Players Perplexed By Mike Woodson’s Goatee

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — New York Knicks coach Mike Woodson‘s goatee doesn’t get the attention it deserves. Perfectly trimmed, densely populated, nearly symmetric, Mike Woodson’s goatee might be the NBA’s most wholly realized facial hair. And in order to fully explore Coach Woodson’s facial hair, the Knicks recently sent their “Kid Reporters” Ryan and Jaylah out to interview several Knicks players, to try and get to the bottom of the existential riddle that is Coach Woodson’s goatee.

Is Woodson’s goatee, as Carmelo Anthony suggests, completely detachable?

Does Coach Woodson dye it, Steve Novak wonders?

Is Mike Woodson actually 70 years old, as JR Smith asks?

All that and more in the video…

Picture Perfect: Knicks Edition

By Nick Margiasso

It’s hard not to miss New York Knicks coach Mike Woodson on the court with his team. Even in practice, his presence looms large.

Or maybe it’s just what he’s wearing.
