Klay Thompson has Jedi powers

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Tonight it’s finally time for the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder to play Game 7 (9:00 p.m. ET, TNT) in the Western Conference Finals, with everything on the line. Win and go to the NBA Finals, lose and go home. But to get to a Game 7, the Warriors first had to win a wild Game 6 in Oklahoma City a few nights ago. The Thunder led most of the way, but Warriors guard Klay Thompson got hot in the second half and started raining threes, finishing with 11 made three-pointers, an NBA playoff record. How did he get so hot? Was it his form? His technique? Or maybe it was all a Jedi mind trick? Because as it turns out, Thompson wore a pair of Yoda socks to the game.

As Thompson told The Vertical after the game, “”I brought my Yoda socks to bring out my Jedi powers.”

The Force is strong in that one.

Thunder fan pays tribute to Steven Adams

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — One of the breakout stars of this postseason has been Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams, who keeps getting injured but somehow stays on the court to provide rebounding and set solid screens, all while looking like a swashbuckling pirate captain. With his long hair, tattoos and curly mustache, Adams has cultivated a signature look, and last night in Oklahoma City for Game 4, one young female fan managed to replicate Adams’ look so well that even Adams was impressed…

The Oklahoma City Thunder can’t stop dancing

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — A few days ago we saw what happened when Oklahoma City Thunder guards Russell Westbrook and Cameron Payne had their pregame dance routine interrupted by a couple of members of the Dallas Mavericks. Well not only did the dancing duo return to their pregame ritual, but as we saw last night as the Thunder eliminated Dallas, Payne managed to keep dancing even while on the bench…

Mark Cuban gives Mavericks fans an excuse to leave work

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — After getting blown out in Game 1 of their first round series against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Dallas Mavericks surprised many by winning Game 2 to steal home court advantage. Tonight in Dallas, the teams meet up for Game 3. But because the game starts at 6:00 p.m. Dallas time, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban wanted to be sure Mavs fans were able to get out of work early enough to get to the game on time, so he posted this note for fans to show their bosses, giving them a good excuse…

You can’t stop Russell Westbrook’s pregame dance routine

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Just before tipoff at Oklahoma City Thunder games, Russell Westbrook and reserve guard Cameron Payne engage in a little two-step dance near halfcourt. Tonight, prior to tipoff of Game 2 of the Oklahoma City/Dallas series, as Westbrook and Payne got their groove on, Mavs players Charlie Villanueva and Justin Anderson wandered over into the way. Do you think this stopped Russell Westbrook? Not a chance!

The NBA reacts to Kobe Bryant’s final game

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — On a night where the Golden State Warriors set a record by finishing the season 73-9, the story of the night was the final game of Kobe Bryant. As it turned out, even in his final game, one of the NBA’s greatest players still had some magic left in him. Kobe finished with 60 points, on 22-of-50 shooting, in the performance of a lifetime, as the Lakers came from behind to win, 101-96. Players from around the NBA watched and shared their reactions on social media…

The Oklahoma City Thunder are bonded by mustaches

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — As we head into the playoffs, NBA teams are looking to come together for their final postseason push. Sometimes we’ll see teams wear matching shoes, or maybe they all shave their heads as a show of unity. Down in Oklahoma City, big man Enes Kanter has an idea to get everyone on the same page: huge mustaches. OK, so maybe Photoshop has to be invoked, but still, pretty good idea…

The NBA reacts to the NCAA championship game

VIDEO: Jenkins shot

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Last night’s NCAA Championship game between North Carolina and Villanova came down to a game-winning buzzer beater by Villanova’s Kris Jenkins, just seconds after an incredible game-tying three from UNC’s Marcus Paige. With the NBA taking a final night off before the sprint to the playoffs, plenty of NBA players tuned in to the big finale and reacted on social media…

A decade of the NBA on Twitter

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Today is Twitter’s tenth birthday, and over the last decade the social media platform has become an invaluable tool to use while following the NBA. Not only can fans and teams interact in real time, but NBA players and front office members have also taken to Twitter as a way to communicate with fans.

So, to celebrate Twitter’s tenth birthday, we got into the wayback machine and checked out some of our favorite NBA people’s first tweets…

Steve Novak’s son shows one result of the trade deadline

ALL BALL NERVE CENTERSteve Novak is a 6-10 stretch four in his tenth NBA season. He had the size to make it to the NBA, but his three-point shooting ability has earned him a long career. Unfortunately for Novak, that same ability to shoot also means teams around the NBA want Novak on their team. So in that decade in the NBA, Novak has played for eight different teams, most recently the Oklahoma City Thunder. I say most recently the Thunder, because yesterday at the trade deadline, Novak was traded again, this time to the Denver Nuggets. Novak took to Twitter to post a picture of his son balling in the backyard, where he showed off one result of getting traded so much — lots of gear…
