The Phoenix Suns Gorilla has your tricks and treats

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Getting candy for Halloween? It’s a right, a tradition, something everyone enjoys. Getting pranked on Halloween? Yeah, that’s part of the day, too. And leave it to Phoenix Suns mascot The Gorilla to scare the living daylights out of some unsuspecting people. Getting free candy seems like a pretty sweet deal. A disembodied gorilla hand rising up from under the candy bowl? Well, that’s just scary. TRICK OR TREAT!

Steve Nash back in a Phoenix Suns uniform

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — It’s been a while since we’ve seen Steve Nash playing in an NBA game, and while his NBA career may have ended a season ago, from this recent photo, he looks like he’s still in playing shape. As Nash prepares to go into the Phoenix Suns “Ring of Honor,” he took part in a recent photo shoot wearing the same uniform he wore while winning two MVP awards.

By Jeff Case

With a little less than two weeks to go from the official start of the 2015-16 NBA season and, frankly, we are pretty pumped up here at All Ball central for a new season. Now is the time of year when all 30 teams are dreaming big, getting fired up and reflecting on their past.

A month or so ago, the Pistons released a hype video to gear up for the new season and now, the Suns and the Nuggets have gotten into the act. Give ’em a watch and let us know: whose hype video do you like better?

Jeremy Lin explains how to fit in the NBA

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — If this NBA thing doesn’t work out for Jeremy Lin — and for whatever it’s worth, it seems to be going just fine, thank you very much — perhaps Lin should look into a back-up career in the world of video. Because Lin sure does seem to enjoy, and be good at, making viral videos. And while the videos of him pranking people are always funny, this latest Youtube video is also great. Here Lin gets a little help from fellow NBA players like Stephen Curry, Tyson Chandler, DeAndre Jordan and Kemba Walker, in this video about how to fit in the NBA…

The 200 best dunks from Gerald Green

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — It’s the summer, and there’s not much happening around the NBA right now. Luckily for all of us, someone decided to edit together some of Gerald Green‘s best dunks.

The top five?

Oh no, no, no.

OK, the top ten, you ask aloud?

Why are you thinking so small? No way!

Well then, the top 50, you wonder?

No, my friend. Someone edited together the top 200 dunks from Gerald Green.

Two hundred!

Grab a seat. This is gonna take a while…

Sonny Weems is a rimwrecker

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Swingman Sonny Weems has played for a couple of NBA teams, but has a new home after signing with the Phoenix Suns over the summer. What will Weems bring to the Suns? Presumably several skills, but for certain, he looks ready to do some incredible dunking.

Here is cell-phone footage from a recent workout at the Suns facility, where Weems goes baseline and dunks, and brings the rim along with him. Think this means we’ll get Weems in the dunk contest this season?

Steve Nash explains the history of the Phoenix Suns

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — The Phoenix Suns are celebrating their 48th anniversary, and in order to give a little background as to how an NBA franchise ended up “in the desert,” the Suns enlisted their former two-time MVP Steve Nash to deliver something of an oral history of the franchise, with some iconic video clips mixed in there, too. Pretty cool stuff…

Phoenix Suns unveil new uniforms, court

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — With just weeks before NBA training camps tip-off, the Phoenix Suns have their roster mostly in place. But yesterday they announced a few last minute changes that will surely be noticed: new uniforms and a new court. This isn’t the first time the Suns have changed things up, but it is the latest and newest.

For the court, the Suns have the sunburst logo and midcourt, and a simple new design, with the floor ringed with black…

As for the uniforms, the Suns announced a new “Civic Pride” look that they will wear 13 times this season.

According to

The new alternate “Civic Pride” uniform brings that great tradition to the newest generation of Suns by using a similar PHX in white across the chest of the jersey.

The color of the uniform hearkens back to another group of the Valley’s favorite Suns, too. The black jersey and shorts pay homage to the alternate set that debuted during Sir Charles’ reign during the 1994-95 season. The purple and orange piping along the neckline is also a call back to that beloved uniform.

The numbers and font along with the shorts tie in the current iteration of the Suns uniforms, creating a look that honors the past and present of the franchise.

The Suns were the first franchise in Phoenix and are the only one with the city name across their chests

The time Shawn Marion and the Suns pranked people

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — The end of the NBA Finals last week was also the end of Shawn Marion‘s 16-season NBA career. Marion, who won a title with Dallas in 2011, played for a few teams during all those years, including a final season this year with Cleveland. But as a youngster, Marion was a member of some high-octane teams in Phoenix. And in this video below, watch as a rookie Marion pranks patrons riding on his pedicab…
