Stance unveils new socks for new season

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — With NBA training camps just days away, Stance is ready to get back in action. Today the official on-court sock of the NBA debuted a few new looks and styles for the 2016-17 NBA season.

From a release…

Last season, Stance debuted as the first official on-court sock of the National Basketball Association (NBA). At the time, Stance entered the scene with five solid colorways and a multitude of team-specific styles. Now, this season, Stance is building on that selection with the release of one new solid color and eight striped styles designed to amplify jerseys throughout the 2016-2017 NBA season.

Each team will maintain access to their two specific styles and existing solids. They will now, however, have the option to diversify their selection with Stance’s new solid navy, thin stripe, bold stripe and cap stripe socks. The Stripes collection, outside of complimenting NBA uniforms, provides the fashion, fit and function to transition from the NBA court and performance footwear to postgame and lifestyle wear.

These new On-Court Stripes will make their NBA debut in late October, at the start of the 2016-17 season. The collection is available at retail now, though, in both Stance’s quarter and crew heights. The styles are available at Stance.com, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Foot Locker, the NBA Store and a variety of national and international retailers. Stance introduces new NBA cartoon socks

16_FA_HOOPS_CARTOON_LEGENDS_003

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — Stance has revolutionized the NBA sock game over the last few years, and they are continuing to introduce new options to keep fan’s feet fresh. The latest move? NBA Cartoon socks. Via Stance…

Three years after debuting its initial NBA Legends collection, and less than a year after unveiling its inaugural NBA Future Legends collection, Stance is excited to announce its new pack of NBA Legends and Future Legends in a Cartoon style.

The Cartoon styles are designed to fit the aesthetic of both hardcore NBA fans and sock enthusiasts. More than that, from a performance perspective, they are engineered to be both durable and comfortable.

The six pairs, and seven players, vary widely in terms of when they played in the NBA and who they played for. There are four current players, aka Future Legends, featured in the collection: Anthony Davis, of the New Orleans Pelicans; James Harden, of the Houston Rockets; LeBron James, of the Cleveland Cavaliers; and Stephen Curry, of the Golden State Warriors.

There is also a style that pays homage to Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen, of the Chicago Bulls, and a style that co-stars the iconic Utah Jazz duo of John Stockton and Karl Malone.

Stance’s NBA Cartoon Legend and Current Players collection is now available at Stance.com. It will be also be available at Fanatics, Fanzz, Dicks Sporting Goods, Foot Locker, NBA Store, Lids and other key global retailers.

Lakers pay tribute to Kobe today with custom socks

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — All season long, teams around the NBA have paid tribute to Kobe Bryant with gifts and on-court moments. Today, for their game against the Warriors (3:30 P.M. ET, ABC) the Lakers will do something no NBA team has ever done before, and honor Kobe Bryant by wearing custom Stance socks. This will mark the first time an NBA team has worn a piece of equipment to honor a current player.

From a release from Stance…

The socks, all of which pay homage to Bryant’s eye for detail, personal aesthetic and year-long #KB20 campaign, celebrate the guard’s incredible, record-breaking 20-season NBA career.

The first of the socks, called ‘The Final,’ is purple/gold/white/black and is adorned with the number TWO on the right sock and FOUR on the left. This style is built on Stance’s performance basketball block — with superior breathability, moisture management and targeted cushioning — and will be worn on-court by the Lakers this coming Sunday, March 6, when they face off with the Golden State Warriors at the Staples Center.

‘K. Bryant,’ the second of the three styles, is a casual sock that depicts a cartoon caricature of Bryant. The twist, though, is that the left sock depicts the guard as he would’ve looked at the turn of the century, complete with a No. 8 Lakers jersey, classic haircut and full goatee. Meanwhile, the right sock features Bryant in the No. 24, with a shaved head and his infamous jutted jaw.

The final style, ‘Kobe Faces,’ is a black/purple/gold/white mismatched casual sock that draws inspiration from Bryant’s HeroVillain line of merchandise. Most noticeably, HERO and VILLAIN are written in Mandarin on the socks, and the foot features the HeroVillain and KB20 logo.

The limited-edition Stance x Kobe socks are now available on Stance.com, KobeBryant.com, NBAStore.com and at Staples Center.

Stance unveils All-Star Weekend socks

Both events

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — We got a look at the official All-Star Weekend uniforms a few weeks ago, and not Stance, the official oncourt sock provider for the NBA, has dropped images of the official socks for the All-Star Game as well as the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge. According to a release from Stance…

The Western Conference sock, which is red-and-white, and the Eastern Conference sock, a complimentary blue-and-white, are both colored to accentuate the uniform. The embroidered Stance logo on the front of each sock is gold, to represent the magnitude of the 65th All-Star Game, while the NBA logo on the back is encased in a Toronto-associated maple leaf. The cuff of each sock incorporates a ring of multiple colors that pays homage to the same stripe on the uniform. Meanwhile, in an effort to memorialize the Game, the footbed includes the phrase TO16.

The All-Star Game is not the only event getting a commemorative on-court sock in Toronto. On Friday night, during the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge, rookies and sophomores will don special footwear. The black-and-gold sock owes its design to both the event’s uniform and the Toronto Raptors’ alternate team colors. The gold Stance and NBA embroideries serve as a reminder of the gravity of the event.

NBA All-Star socks ($28) and BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge socks ($28) are now available at Stance.com and NBAStore.com.

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — We already knew that Stance would be making new socks for the NBA this season. Today, the other shoe (or, well, sock) drops: Instead of just rocking white and black socks, NBA teams will each have customized color combinations this season. Here are the first six socks (for the Cavs, Hawks, Knicks, Pelicans, Pistons and Warriors) from the collection, which are available now for sale at NBAStore.com. The rest drop October 15…

Dwyane Wade nails opponent while playing dodgeball

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — I can think of very few things scarier than the prospect of playing dodgeball against a professional athlete. A baseball pitcher would probably be the worst option, sure, but any pro athlete with the ability to throw a ball at a high speed would not be fun to square off against.

Let’s add the Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade to that list. Here’s a video of Wade at the headquarters of Stance socks, the NBA’s official sock and where Wade has his own line of socks, playing dodgeball. And someone on the other side of the court makes the mistake of getting caught in Wade’s sights.

Duck!

Stance is now the official sock of the NBA

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — For as long as anyone can remember, NBA players took to the court wearing white socks. That got a tweak a few years ago when some people mixed in black socks. Meanwhile, off the court, colorful socks are all the rage. We saw some of that around the All-Star Game when sock company Stance rolled out colorful East and West socks for the teams to wear. And yesterday it was announced that next season Stance will be the official sock supplier of the NBA.

According to a release from the NBA…

“We can’t wait to bring our innovative sock technology and unique style to the NBA’s global following,” said Clarke Miyasaki, EVP of Business Development at Stance. “It’s an unbelievable honor for Stance to become the league’s official oncourt sock, and we look forward to unveiling the entire lineup to NBA fans.”

Stance also announced the addition of Golden State Warriors All-Star Klay Thompson to its roster of brand ambassadors. Thompson, who helped lead the Warriors to the best regular season in franchise history, joins three-time NBA champion and Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade, Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond and Dallas Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons as current brand ambassadors.

“Joining the Stance family as one of their NBA ambassadors is an exciting opportunity,” said Thompson. “Stance has found a creative way to make socks a fashion statement, and their unique designs make it fun to show off my personality both on and off the court. Along with the artistic style of the socks, the comfort and performance is extremely high-level.”

The Stance NBA Collection will feature its innovative Triniti Technology, which combines anatomical cushioning, targeted compression and superior moisture wicking. The traditional crew silhouette will debut at the 2015 NBA Draft Combine next month and will be worn by all players participating in the 2015 Samsung NBA Summer League in July. Stance will create team-specific designs as well as unique, limited-edition styles for marquee events and holiday games, including Hoops for Troops, Christmas Day, MLK Day and NBA All-Star.

Here are some early images of some of the initial designs. Looks like there will be some fancy footwork in the NBA next season…

nba_all_star_003

ALL BALL NERVE CENTER — A few weeks ago, we saw the official 2015 All-Star Game uniforms from adidas. Today we find out how the uniforms will be finished off, as Stance Socks and the NBA unveiled the official socks of the 2015 All-Star Game.

From a press release…

“The best sock minds on the planet have been intensely focused on creating an unrivaled basketball sock,” said Clarke Miyasaki, EVP of Business Development at Stance. “We’ve paired the technical geniuses behind this sock with the creative sock artistry that Stance pioneered, and we hope the world’s greatest basketball players will be as happy as we are with the socks.”

Masterfully blending art and science, the limited-edition Stance Fusion Basketball socks feature distinct blue East and red West tie-dye designs to complement each conference’s All-Star uniform, while the innovative sock technology ensures optimal fit and feel for the league’s biggest stars. Stance’s Triniti Technology keys in on moisture management utilizing a mesh venting system, traction control with strategically-placed grippers on the footbed and targeted cushioning in the areas of the foot that take the most impact.

“Our goal is to always provide our players with the best apparel and equipment to play the game,” said Lisa Piken Koper, NBA VP of Licensing. “Stance continues to focus on developing products that maximize oncourt performance and the NBA All-Star design is a key example of their commitment to producing innovative products.”

Chandler Parsons debuts sock collaboration with Stance

ALL BALL NERVE CENTERChandler Parsons has had an eventful few months, becoming one of the offseasons most coveted free agents with his move from Houston to Dallas. And apparently he’s been busy off the court, as well.

In the video below, Parsons discusses his newly minted partnership with Stance Socks, the brand NBA fans may know from their collaboration with Dwyane Wade. Parsons — an avowed sockaholic who says he actually plans his outfits around his socks — recently got a sock deal with Stance, and has a signature sock coming soon.

To that end, Parsons spent time with Stance recently to film a short flick about his love for Stance Hoops, the brand’s basketball collection. Here’s the world premiere of that video…
